"Don't worry,I am not going to make the effort anymore. You know where to find me."

Erico POV

I drove back home with a beaming smile on my face.Today was one of the best dates I've ever had and honestly she was the only girl who really got to know me as the "Normal guy" not the one with the money.

I quickly got inside my house to find rather suprising faces.

"Hello Darling" Mum.

"What time do you call this?!" Dad.

"Mum?,Dad? What are you doing here?"

My mum looked over to my dad before approaching me . "Honey we just wanted to come see our son" she touched my shoulders and smiled before taking a step back.

"It's been 3 months since I last saw you guys, not much has changed if that was what you were worrying about so you can just go back to wherever you were." I shrugged and took off my coat .

"That's not how you speak to your mother Erico!" My father snapped.

I looked over to him and shook my head, somehow I was related to him, shared my blood with him and yet we had nothing in common and were never close from what I recall.

I went to my room and slammed my door shut. By tomorrow they'd have gone already , I'm sure of it.

***********************************************************************************************

The next morning I was awakened by the smell of bacon, eggs and pancakes. Everything smelled great. It must be Gem cooking something.

I walked down the dressed to see my dad sat on the table with a newspaper in hand and my mum whistling whilst cooking.

Wow the perfect picture.

If someone was to have walked in they would have thought we were supper close and a good family but that would have been a lie.

"Oh you're awake, sit down and eat."

They was so much food on the table and to be honest it looked really good and there was only one space it belonged to.

My belly!

"Umm,Are we celebrating anything?" I asked as I dugged into my pancakes layered with syrup.

"My mum looked up "No honey, don't be silly. I just decided to cook us breakfast ,thought it would be nice."

My mum was a great cook and she knew that food had a special place in my heart but i wasn't  8 anymore . This wasn't going to fix the fact that they missed their duties as parents and that they were always away.

After I finished with my plate, I cleared my throat " Well I'm going to go and meet up with Mark now" I pushed my chair backwards receiving a screeching noise and stood up to left.

"Wait,we have something to say" My mother said looking at my father.

"Well I already know that your travelling again" I said sharply and only then did I notice the guilt in my mother's eyes. Maybe deep down behind that tough exterior she puts up she  wished she could turn back time and become a better parent.

"Well me and you mum are going to go on another business trip together-"

"And then I'll be returning for the Christmas holidays to stay. No more business trips, I want to catch up on all the years I've missed and become a better parent." My mother cut my father from his speech.

I guess actions speak louder than words and maybe this time, mum will follow her own advice instead of just following dad wherever he goes. Maybe he just doesn't recognise that the only reason she goes with him is because she loves him and not because of the money.

Not trying to boast be we have plenty and if we use it right, it could last-they didn't need to go on business trips anymore.

I know that when I marry I want her to know how much I love and care for her and if she was to carry my kids then I would try my best to be the best father just to make up for the fact mine was almost non-existent.

"Well when I see it with my own eyes, I'll believe it." And with that I walked out to meet Mark.
