Emily sat on the outskirts of a glassy lake. She was seated on an old log her and Joel had pushed there a while ago, it reminded her of home, her old home, on Olympus. As if Pegasus could read her mind he sat up and rubbed his head against her knee, "It wasn't your fault you know." He said in the purry male voice she still wasn't used to, "There was nothing else you could have done!" He continued.
After the Mutant titans arrived on Olympus there was nothing but a dry, barren lanscape left of the mythological world she called home. Much to her dismay she ended up destroying the once wondrous planet by directing the solar stream directly at it forcing it to explode. On the bright side it had taken the monstrous blob like creatures with it, however this meant they no longer had a place for the survivors of the battle to take refuge.
Saturn and the Titans had been extremely understanding and welcoming of the refugees, after coming to aid them in the fight that nearly destroyed them, however Titus never felt like home to Emily in the same way Olympus once did.
In Emily's opinion the only good thing that came out of the battle was her becoming a full Xan. She felt that for once she could really appriciate seasons and nature, life and death, the beauty of all things in their prime before wilting away to a dark end. Although being a Xan came with the burden of protecting forms of life, rescuing species and going on strange missions from time to time, she felt she had finally found peace.
"I know Pegs." She replied, responding to his earlier comment " but i just can't help thinking that i could have done more!" She said in frustration. "You did your best child, and that is always enough" he commented. How! How did he stay so calm about this!! Even though they had been on Titus for a year, to Emily the battle still felt like it was yesterday.
"Pegs, have you been feeling anything strange recently?" She asked, changing the subject, "like, wrong?" Pegasus seemed to think about it for a bit and then replied, "yes. Like a strange tug on a rope through the centre of my body. Why? What have you felt?" "Oh Pegs!" She bursted out, throwing herself onto him."It's been so painful like a magical bo- "Hey Em" she heard a familiar voice shout "I've been looking all over for you!" The boy sat next to her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, but as soon as he'd done it his face flushed red and he turned away.
"So Joel" she started, hoping to break the awkward atmosphere around them. Since they had officially started dating neither of them knew how to act around each other. "Why were you looking for me?" "Jupiter wanted me to fetch you and Palen, something about a top secret mission?" "Well, lets go find Palen so this mysterious mission can be revealed"
As they walked towards Palen's apartment she reflected on her and Joel's relationship. They were just so different! Yet they were two halves just aching to make one whole. He was so big and strong, so hansome and hardworking , yes she was strong , but in a different way. Compared to Joel she was a petite mousey haired girl with a large horse with wings (he hates to be called a horse). She wondered what the mission would be about and if it could make or break their newly crafted love?
