17. Repugnant Rival

It was the next day in pokemon trainer school. Y/N laid her head on her desk sleepily not caring if Professor Kukui scolded her. Yesterday's events had made her tired, not able to sleep during the night with  her head filled with regarding thoughts of Team Skull. As for her confident brother he tapped his foot excitedly as he watched the clock tick closer to break time. When the bell finally rang he immediately grabbed his pokemon and ran out of the classroom.

"Sun, hold your Mudsdales!,"  she shouted. She shook her head and grabbed Popplio and walked towards Kukui. "Did Professor Burnet feed him dark chocolate again? That's usually not a good idea."  Professor Kukui chuckled and looked towards the outside window.

"I think he's just excited to battle one of the new strongest trainers here."

Sure enough when Y/N walked outside, she saw Sun and a male student  talking to one another. She walked towards them quietly as Sun seemed to complain towards the trainer.

"Come one dude! My Rowlet against your Lycanroc!,"  he pleaded. The trainer rolled his eyes and looked at Sun impatient.

"I said we can battle tomorrow. My Lycanroc has just gotten his fur groomed and I don't want  to ruin it today."  Sun sighed disappointed but agreed with him in desperation. The trainer then notices Y/N coming up besides her brother. His eyes widen and quickly fixes his glossy hair. The siblings look at each other. 

The trainer grins. "I don't  think I introduced myself! The name's Riku. Nice to meet you~."  He then quickly pulls Sun towards him and looks at him in regard.

"So who's the hottie here?"  Sun looks at him weirdly.

"...She's my sister dude."

Riku looks at him like he won the lottery. He then pushes him away and narrows at Y/N in charm. "What's your name sweetie?"  She stares at him in doubt but shrugs it off. 

"I'm Y/N."

"Oh, what a wonderful name! Cute Popplio you got  there."

"Thank you."

Riku then turns around and waves goodbye to the curious siblings as he starts to walk off. "It was nice meeting you two! Send my regards to Professor Kukui and the rest of the family!"

Classes had finally ended. As they headed home with their pokemon Y/N turned to Sun with a smile. "Want  to grab a bite?,"  she asked. Sun shook his head however. "Sorry sis, I'm actually meeting up with Kiawe and Sophocles."  She nods and turns towards the trail that leads to Hau'oli City. 

"I'll grab some poke puffs I guess. See you later?"  Sun grins and nods. "But make sure to not come home late this time though!,"  he says mockingly before running off. 

As Y/N and Popplio made their way, she noticed a figure following her ever since she got  to the city. She finally turned around to confront them but her eyes widen surprised when she saw  who it was. It was Riku and he smiled innocently when he got caught. 

"Uh, hey Y/N!"  She narrowed at him suspiciously. "Why are you following me?,"  she asked. He looked at her like it was a dumb question. "I though you might have wanted some company to wherever you're headed!"  Y/N rolled her eyes and begin walking away ignoring him. He however quickly grabbed her hand making her turn around in dismay.

He cheekily smiled. "No need to be that way! Don't you want someone like me to accomp-"

 "Riku, let go before I bite your hand off. Leave me alone."   

This guy reminds me of Gladion but more annoying...

He wasn't giving up however. He leaned in closer making Popplio who was in her trainer's arms snout almost  touching his chest. She barked angrily but  they both ignored her as they continued their argument.

"Let me go you idiot!"

"Come on Y/N. Let's go hangout-"

"You heard. Let her go."

Riku froze. Y/N cautiously looked behind him and sees Gladion glaring at  them somewhat angrily. Much to his consternation Riku lets go and turns to him irritated.

"Who the heck are you?"  Y/N runs towards Gladion however and gets behind him as he glares at Riku with a sinister expression. He turns towards her.

"...Did this guy do anything to you Y/N?"  Riku grits his teeth annoyed and points at Gladion in fury.

"Don't ignore me you fool! And the name's Riku you-"   

"Shut up."

Having enough, he angrily pulls out his pokeball. "Look here you emo boy! If I win this pokemon battle against you, Y/N goes with me and you can take your business somewhere else and leave us alone!"  Gladion looks at him and frowns.

"...If I win, you leave Y/N alone and get lost."
