Pokemon Gladion x Reader

28. Realization

The next day at  trainer school, Y/N ignored Professor Kukui's  lecture as  she was lost in her thoughts, thinking about her and Gladion's  sudden reactions towards each other from yesterday.

Gladion surprised me when he grabbed my hand all of a sudden. For some reason I felt my face becoming hot...was I blushing? I've never  reacted like that before though...does that mean that I...No! Of course not! 

...I mean, he is quite good looking even with  his odd haircut, and he is caring and helpful to his pokemon, Lillie and surely to his close friends. Not only that, he is  smart and talented unlike me. He doesn't  fear Team Skull at all...and his eyes, his eyes are a beautiful green. And when he smiles...don't  even get me started on that.

...But now that I think about it, I noticed Gladion's  face blush when he grabbed my hand yesterday. That couldn't  mean...no, no way! There is no way that he...

Y/N suddenly froze. 

That  time in Po Town when they said goodbye to Nanu and left the police station, Gladion was telling her something before being interrupted by Sun. The words...the words that she remembered were...

"...Y/N, I think...I think I lov..."

Y/N's  face suddenly became very red. 

She quickly stood up from her chair in which Professor Kukui and the others glanced at her confusedly. Sun who sits next  to her gave her an awkward look. Feeling embarrassed, she looked  down at her desk which  had the words carved  '7.8 too much water.'

"I-I need to use the restroom!"  Y/N runs out of the room, not even waiting for Professor Kukui's  response.

She quickly went down the stairs of the building and headed towards the women's  bathroom. Y/N  enters and sighs deeply, hoping to calm herself down. She goes and stares at  the mirror, her face red as a beetroot. 

"...Did he really try to say love? If so, how could I have been so  oblivious?,"  she mutters to herself. Y/N shook her head in disbelief.

How am I going to face Gladion? I'm now aware of how he actually feels about me! And not only that, I can't  stop thinking about him! I can feel my face getting hotter and hotter...argh! This is not good! 

Y/N suddenly heard the door swing open. She turned around and saw Mallow  who had a concerned look on her face. Lillie was  seen behind her.

"Hey Y/N! You alright? Your face is looking a bit red,"  Mallow said attentively. Lillie nods in agreement. "Y-you're not sick, are you?"  Y/N  quickly shakes her head and gives an awkward smile to the girls.

"I'm fine, r-really! It just felt a bit hot in class. I'm still getting used to Alola  after all!"  She smiles again in hopes to make them believe her in which they fortunately nod. Mallow pats her back and moves around energetically. "Well if that's  the case, then let's head back to class. I can't  wait for you guys to try my new recipe later on!"  Y/N gives a thumbs up as everyone heads back. She couldn't  help but look down all the way however, her blushing face being problematic.

Later that evening at home, Y/N  laid tiredly in her bed. Popplio climbed up to her and cuddled next  to her happily, the pokemon's  long snout brushing against her shoulder. The H/C haired trainer giggled and picked Popplio up, raising the small blue pokemon up below her.

"...I wish I were a pokemon,"  Y/N says with a sigh, "I wouldn't  have to worry about love, would I?"  She hugs Popplio gently. 

...The word love and Gladion doesn't  seem to go together. Rude and sometimes selfish to  others from what I seen, yet I start  to appreciate his company. I wonder...

...does he appreciate my company as well?

Before she could think any further, she falls asleep. Popplio notices and slowly and quietly pulls her bed sheets up to her trainer's  chest. Once settled, the pokemon happily falls asleep too.
