Dakota looked up at Brian and smiled. It may not have been the life they wanted, but it was still their life. They still had each other and their children. Nothing could ever change that, no matter what happened. They knew that if one of them fell, the other one would catch them.
Brian pulled Dakota to him and kissed her. This was the woman he loved with all his heart and wouldn't let anything happen to her. No matter what was said or done, they had each other's backs, and that was enough for them.
"Mommy, Daddy!" The voice of their children made them turn and smile.
It had been almost a year since they had seem them. This experience had brought everyone closer. Brian hugged Katie and Matt tightly as their other three children came running to meet them.
Dakota wiped her tears before they fell all the way down her cheeks.
"Why are you crying, Momma?" Their youngest asked.
"Because, I'm so happy to see you guys. I've missed you all so much." Dakota said and pulled all of them into a tight hug. Brian joined them, and before long Dom and Letty and the rest of the family joined in. Yes, they had lost a lot, but they still had a lot too.
Nothing and no one could ever change that. No matter what happened.
