the gunshots echoed in the air
and then there was the scream.it was loud
ringing out like a chime on a church
but far more deadly
and far more terrifying
than any church they've been to.and so they ran.
everyone ran,
they scattered and fled,
attempting to save their own lives
and running from the ones
who promised they were on our side.the bullets
they hit the people without humanity
and the humans behind the trigger
had no compassion in their hearts.the father sprinted
to his crying, shrieking child.the father ran and ran and cried and shouted
another gunshot echoed in the air
and the body

to the ground.and now he lies there,
trampled and dead,
crushed under the feet of his own people,
his own country,
and still his child cries.***
hello loves! i know this poem is a lot darker than some of the other ones, but i think it has to be addressed. during the korean war, there was a massacre called no gun ri. south koreans died at the hands of american soldiers - but i ask you to please not take this poem the wrong way! i write about this tragic event because the korean war is one of the things that greatly affected my family, and i appreciate your understanding.
on another note: thank you guys for 100+ votes and 200+ reads! love you all to bits.
