They fell on the dark ground, as both got covered in ink. Cutie stood up while shaking her body to get the ink off of her, as well as Kabootle. She also shook her head since the ink had covered her ponytails too. Cutie looked around, noticing the ink that was surrounding the little hill, as well as the entire place. It was all the same: Dark, cold and wet.
Cutie couldn't see any visible shoeprints path thanks to the dark, but instead there were a few orange graphite particles floating on the air. These were making a trail to follow for Cutie. Unlike the previous scenarios, she held Kabootle on her arms, and jumped to the other land that was next to them. Then, the duo began to run forwards. Somehow Cutie was still confused by how a volcano could be so cold on the inside -just like her brother. Again, the answer to this question wasn't necessary for the moment.
The enemies were in lesser amounts than before. It was obvious; Fancy took care of almost all of the enemies. Cutie decided to test a little her new weapon on this kind of enemies, and effectively it was more efficient than the staff. The cuts were so clean it didn't give a chance to the little creatures to regenerate themselves. They exploded instead. But somehow, the blade suffered some damages on its edge in the process, and Cutie had to use more strength on every hit thanks to that.
On the way, Cutie found something sticking out of the inky grounds. It was a couple of little white rocks -or so they seemed to be. She went closer and observed them with attention –and Kabootle obviously following her back. Cutie also noticed that these were the only things the ink was neither able to cover or touch, like it had some kind of "toxic" that kept the ink away from them –This is pretty unusual...- She though. She took one of the rocks; their texture was similar to a piece of chalk –Let's see if this works somehow- Cutie whispered. Then, she passed the little object on her sword blade's edge until the white color had already covered the necessary.
Next, she tried to prove her weapon now with this particular but unknown material, this by confronting some enemies that appeared right next to her. She began to attack them along with Kabootle, splitting them in half and sometimes even dividing them in even more parts. But unlike previously, the sword's blade didn't receive any damage this time, not to mention this made it less difficult to hit the enemies for Cutie. It seemed that curiosity was worth it after all.
(...)
Cutie and Kabootle continued following the orange graphite path, sometimes finding either an ink blob or an ink bird, even both. Unlike her brother, Cutie didn't get messed up with the land thanks to her sword's ink-proof addition. After a long walk, the trail led them to the cliff Fancy tripped over; his body's prints were still visible through the ink –Well, seems that he had such a clumsy fall over here- Cutie whispered, as she made a little innocent laugh while picturing the whole situation in her mind.
