"You're extremely lucky Noah."
He simply nodded in response to his mother, refusing to look up from the floor of the cell.
"It will be our luck you aren't dropped from the university!" She said harshly.
Noah continued to frown. Too much had happened for him to make sense of anything. He remembered being arrested, but not taken to jail or being interrogated. And somewhere along the way, Todd was bailed out by his incredibly wealthy parents, barely avoiding seven years in prison. Instead, he had to do twenty hours of community service and was on house arrest for a month.
Noah was waiting for his attorney to finish up the documents. He was not in possession of the LSD and had no idea of where it came from, making him not a dealer. The attorney had explained it more thoroughly, but Noah's brain was still mush from the trip. But the first thing on his mind when he sobered up was Genevieve. Was she in jail? Did she even get caught? He didn't see her once sirens began to wail all around Kensington. It was a mystery to him.
"Noah Leo Arkins!"
"What?" Noah said, exasperated.
"Did you hear what I said?"
"No, sorry."
She sighed, rubbing her forehead. "I said, you're not going to prison but you are being charged with possession of an illegal substance."
Noah furrowed his eyebrows. "What about the Misuse Drug Act?"
"It wasn't medicinal use," she said, flipping through the folder in her hands. "If it had just been you, we could have said it was. But now everyone is going to jail except for Todd, Kim and yourself."
"Kim?" Noah raised his head in surprise. "How is she getting out?"
"She wasn't on LSD when she was arrested but she is being charged with knowledge of drug possession."
Noah was even more confused now. "I don't care about the law. Get me out please."
"We're working on it!" His mom said and stalked off, her high heels clicking loudly down the hallway.
Noah huffed and sat back on the bed, his nose wrinkling at the stench of the cell. Before he could ponder any further, he heard some footsteps down the hall. "Well, well, if it isn't the mute whisperer?"
Glancing up, he saw Todd standing there, holding a bag of his possessions confiscated by the police. Noah stood up and walked over to the bars. "How the hell are you getting out so fast?"
Todd shrugged arrogantly. "Pays to have a wealthy family," he said with a smug smile on his face. "Are you getting out?"
"Yes, but I'm still in big trouble-"
Todd waved his hand, "Big deal, at least you can know to go score some more pussy with Genevieve. Where the hell even is she?"
Noah flinched inwardly. That little lie he had told a week back, was turning into a total nightmare. The morning after he dropped Genevieve off, he raced back to Kim's apartment to tell everyone the good news about her considering a position on the staff. But he was interrupted by Todd holding up Genevieve's jeans. Noah, in a moment of panic, told everyone that he had been able to get into bed with her.
Everyone had gasped, Todd turned red with rage. "Then explain to me why her underwear isn't here?" Todd had challenged.
"Because... she... only let me go down on her," Noah had replied, the lie turning nastier and nastier. Everyone had let it go, remembering the kiss Genevieve and Noah had shared before the drug set in. But the truth was, she had taken off her jeans because she had begun to sweat very suddenly. Chugging juice down, spilling most of it on her shirt, she had waltzed into the bedroom and stripped off her pants. And then proceeded to just lay on the bed.
