Castiel had to run to make it to his history class, but he still made it. The only open seat was in the back, so he went and took a seat there. He was sat next to a girl. She had long black hair, with a blue stripe through it. He freckles were dark on her pale skin, and her gray eyes were dark and dangerous.

"Hello stranger," she said, lips curling into a smile. "You new here? I've never seen you before."

"Yes, I just moved here from Florida. I'm Castiel," he said, holding his hand out for her to shake. She did.

"I'm Bella. Nice to meet you. Nice name you got there," she laughed, pulling her hand away to open her history book. Castiel did the same. Yes, they were talking, but they were still listening.

"I was named after the angel of Thursdays," he said, beginning to take notes.

"Really? Must have some religious parents," Bella said, laughing under her breath. Castiel just shrugged.

"Not exactly," he muttered, reading a paragraph from the book. They were studying the history of Ancient Egypt. Out of all his subjects, he liked History the best.

The class flew by quickly, and the bell scared Cas. He jumped, but still quickly gathered his things and rushed out of the room. He walked down the hall when he felt a light hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Bella.

"What's got you in a rush?" she laughed, books in her arm. Castiel breathed out a sigh of relief.

"I just don't like being late. And I have lunch next, so I'm in a hurry to get there," he said, approaching his locker. He placed his things inside before turning back to the smaller girl. She was missing her books. Must've already put them away.

"Well, how about you sit with me? I sit alone anyways," she offered. Since he had no other friends, he accepted, walking into the cafeteria with Bella at his side.

They got their lunch and sat at a small table near the back of the room. They sat on the edge seats, facing each other as they ate.

"So, what brings you to Kansas?" Bella asked, trying to start a conversation as she ate her salad.

"My dad just transferred here. He's a manager for a few macanic shops, and they needed him down here. So we moved," he explained, swallowing a particularly large bite of the pizza he was eating. Bella nodded.

"My uncle works on cars. Maybe your dad knows him," she said. Castiel just shrugged, taking another bite of pizza.

"Is that all you do, is shrug?" Bella joked, putting her fork down. Cas didn't know how to respond, so he just.... shrugged. "You're such a shrugger," Bella said, laughing. Castiel joined her, but they soon quieted down, returning to their food.

Lunch was almost over, and Cas was just starting to like the school. That was, until he had a piece of ice dumped down his back. And since his shirt was tucked in, it couldn't just slide out. Castiel stood quickly, shivering as the ice moved down his back. He heard laughing from behind him, and turned to see a group of guys standing behind him, a cup of ice water in one guy's hand.

They all were wearing blue varsity jackets, showing that they all must've played the same sport.

"Poor kid! Can't get the ice out of his shirt!" someone yelled through his laughs. He was right. It attempt to get the ice out, it didn't register in the mind that his shirt was still tucked in. Once he noticed, he quickly pulled his shirt out, and the ice hit the floor, but he was still shivering slightly.

"Did it feel refreshing?" the one holding the cup asked, slapping Castiel on the back. He didn't respond, and just busied himself with tucking his shirt back in. He looked over at Bella, who looked absolutely pissed.

"Hey! Leave the new kid alone!" a voice yelled, bit it wasn't Bella. It was a deepr voice. One that Cas recognized.

"C'mom Dean! It's fun," one guy said. Castiel sat back down, trying to ignore the men behind him.

"I said, to leave him alone. He didn't do anything to you, now go!" Dean yelled. Grumbling, the group did walk away. Castiel felt a hand on his shoulder, and soon Dean was sitting next to him.

"Are you okay? Sorry about those guys, they're pricks," he said, anger in his voice. Castiel nodded.

"I'm fine. I'm used to it," Cas said, ignoring Dean's raised eyebrow.

Just then, the bell rang, and Castiel was practically jogging out the doors, Bella on his heels.

Last period, science. He walked in, and the teacher told him to where to sit. His seat was right next to the only window in the room, so he had a view of the grassy fields behind the school.

Right before the bell rang, a figure slid into the seat next to him. He looked over, to see a smiling Dean.

"Nice to see you again," he said, smiling down at the shorter male. Castiel gave him a small half smile, not showing his teeth.

"Hello, yet again," he said, a hint of laughter in his voice.

"Settle down class. Let's get started. Today, we are learning the anatomy of a spider," the teacher, Mr. Willis, said. The class got quiet, and they got started.

Half way through the lesson, Dean leaned over to Cas. "How about I give you a ride home after school?" he asked, voice just above a whisper so Mr. Willis wouldn't hear him. A smile found its way onto Castiel's lips as he looked up at Dean.

"I would like that," he whispered back. Dean's smile grew, before he turned back to his work, a smile still on his face. Castiel chuckled, turning his attention to the board in front of him.

Maybe this year won't be so bad, he thought.
