It’s a quarter before 1 am.

Ink tossed and turned in his bed, unable to find any comfortable position to be in. He sighed deeply as his pupils flickered over to his clock on his nightstand to see the time. At this rate, he was never going to get any sleep.

He blinked and sat up. Why couldn’t he sleep? The skeleton usually had no problems whatsoever with flopping onto his bed after a long day, shutting his sockets to escape to dreamland. But tonight was different, apparently. His mind just couldn’t shut down.

Ink shivered and reached for the blankets to wrap himself. He didn’t want to spend this restless night alone.

The first person that popped into his mind was a close friend. Black-boned with tear streaks along his cheeks, the skeleton had multiple glitches and 'error' signs floating around his body, and a cocky personality to match. Indeed, at first, both of them had clashed and argued over the AUs, Ink defending their safety, and the other constantly tried to destroy and kill hundreds of lives, saying that they were no more than filthy glitches.

Which, now that he was thinking about it, was kind of ironic, considering that they were also glitches in the Multiverse.

Ink sighed and felt the slightest hint of a smile on his face. He liked to be in Error's company, now that they were both friends.

He really did like to be in Error’s company.

With that thought in mind, he teleported to the Anti-Void, ignoring the fact that they had just hung out a few hours ago. A strange longing feeling was slowly beginning to rise as he arrived at his desired destination.

To Ink’s surprise, Error was wide awake, sitting cross-legged on the white floor, playing with his dolls and strings. The artist walked over to him silently before settling down next to him.

“Ink?” Error looked over to him and smiled.

Ink met his gaze and nodded. “Heya.”

“But it’s,” Error checked his watch, “1 am.” He looked back up. “What’re you doing up?”

Ink closed his eye sockets and leaned back into a beanbag behind him. “Couldn’t sleep.” He answered simply.

Error frowned. “You okay there, buddy?”

Ink shrugged and opened one eye. “I’m good. Just didn’t want to spend the night alone.”

Error chuckled, making Ink open both of his eyes to look at him curiously. The glitchy skeleton patted the ground next to him. Ink scooted forward until he was sitting really close to him. Almost by instict, he laid his head on Error’s shoulder and snuggled close.

Error winced at the sudden contact, but quickly relaxed as he felt the smaller skeleton settling down. He slowly put an arm around his shoulders and pulled them closer together. He shifted so that they were both looking into each other's eyes.

Even with eyebags under his eyes, Ink had somehow managed to blush a rainbow as he realised the position they were in. His eyes were rapidly changing shapes and colours until they finally settled on two pink hearts.

Error wasn’t doing so well himself. His soul was fluttering in his ribcage as he looked at Ink and blushed. In a matter of seconds, his cheeks were dusted yellow as they continued to stare at each other.

...

Damn, Ink was cute.

It was this thought that jolted Error into action. He placed a bony finger under Ink’s chin and lifted his face upwards. Both of them subconsciously leaned towards the other to close the gap between them.

Ink was at lost for words. All he was thinking about was how Error’s arms were around his waist, how close their faces were. It was maddening how slowly all of this was happening.

Suddenly, as if he couldn’t stand waiting anymore, Ink gripped Error’s dark blue scarf and pulled him closer, just enough for both of their lips to make contact.

The moment they kissed, both of their faces exploded with colour. Ink tried to squirm away to hide it. Error, on the other hand, was enjoying every second of this and held him firmly in his grasp, releasing him only when they needed to take a breath of air.

It was now a quarter after 1 am.

This was going to be a long night~
