“Tell me a secret.”
Goth looked up at the sound of his voice. He shifted ever so slightly, making sure his head is comfortably placed on top of his thigh, and glanced up at him. Goth squinted, sunlight forcing its way into his tired pupil as the lazy skeleton tried to decide whether what he heard was true. Birds chirped happily in a distance and despite the fact that they were both conveniently located in the shade of a tree, the glare of the sun in Undertale's surface seem a bit too bright to his liking.
“What?” he asked Palette tiredly. He rubbed his eyes and stifled a yawn as the buttercups underneath them swayed to the breeze that was always blowing. He fought to keep his eye sockets open as Palette smiled down at him, causing his soul to flutter and move about inside of his ribcage.
Goth observed him quietly as his bony fingers placed a beautiful flower crown on top of his hood and gave the star-eyed skeleton a grin. He slowly got up and fixated his attention purely on him. “Say that again.”
Palette gave him a shy smile. He took a moment to let his eyes focus on Goth, his red scarf, his breath-taking smile, everything. And now, with the addition of the flower crown, he looks as gorgeous as ever. Thinking like this just made his smile widen and his blush spread across his face.
“Tell me a secret. Something that you’ve never told anyone before. Something that means a lot to you.”
Goth laid back down onto his lap and closed one eye, winking as he said, “Well, if I told you, it won’t be a secret anymore, would it?” He reached up and gave him a small flick at his non-existing nose. “That doesn’t sound very fun.”
Palette allowed a small laugh escape him. “And I thought I had a lot of stuff on my mind.” He teased as his eyebrows went up, automatically getting a response from Goth.
“Hey, I keep a lot of secrets too! For all you know, I probably have a lot more than you do!” he protested, feeling somewhat insulted as the familiar feeling of being treated like a child surfaced. “You’re not the only one who likes to play the secretive part!”
This brought a grin to Palette's face. The real purpose he brought this conversation up was beginning to unfold and his hands were beginning to sweat.
Oh god, I’m so cheesy...
“Fine, fine!” Palette raised both of his arms in mock defeat, his mocking smile still plastered on his skull. “But if I tell you one of my secrets, would you do the same?” he asked.
It was Goth's turn to raise his eyebrows at him. “And why should I do that?” he asked defiantly, crossing his arms as he got back up and faced him. All of his laziness had completely vanished as he squinted his eyes in suspicion at Palette.
“Oh, please Master of keeping secrets, I just want to know what kind of secrets that you have that’s worth keeping from me~” Palette teased him. The skeleton smiled as a purple hue began to rise across his face as he registered the tease.
“Fine!” Goth retorted, trying to look away to hide his blushing face. “Go ahead!”...
When Palette didn’t respond, he peeked through his white hood that had been pulled waaaay lower than before. To his surprise, Palette just scooted closer to him and placed both of his hands on Goth's face, making his blush intensify and his face a total mess.
Goth was speechless as his pupil focused on the skeleton in front of him....
“My secret is that I’m in love with the most amazing skeleton that just happens to be my best friend since we were young.”
“My secret is that I’m in love with the most beautiful, loving, extraordinary skeleton in the whole universe.”
“My secret is that I’m in love with a skeleton who looks like an angel and always brightens my mornings and grants me sweet dreams at night.”
“My secret is that I’m in love with you.”
And with that, Palette closed the gap between there lips and held him in his arms for a long, long time.
