hannas POV

i get in my car immediately. 1,000 thoughts are running through my head. i can't believe emily would do this. and with alison? alison was one of my best friends. my heart has just been shattered into one million pieces.

i drive to the cliff. i just sit on the edge of the cliff. it's a nice view.

all of a sudden i see headlights from behind me.

'go away emily! just go away!' i yell

'um..' i hear a voice say

i quickly realise that it's not emily's voice but mona's.

'what are you doing here?' i say rudely.

'i come here to think' she says

'about what?' i ask

'just life in general. when i'm happy i go here. when i'm sad i go here. it always calms me down you know?' she replies taking a seat on the bench. 'get off the edge before you die, come sit' mona smiles at me

i decide to move beside her and lean my head on her shoulder

'what's your excuse?' mona questions

'i'm here because emily cheated on me.' my voice breaks

mona doesn't say anything. she just strokes my hair. she's my best friend ever and knows exactly what i want.

later

we just sat there for what felt like hours until mona breaks the silence.

'well, we better get going.' mona stands up.

'yeah, i'll see you in school tomorrow babe.' i kiss her on the cheek

she smiles

'and mona' i ask as she turns away. 'thanks for staying. it meant a lot' i thank her

'hanna, i'm always here for you'

she's right. she always was. that's why i love her. she's my best friend in the whole world.

emily's POV, school

'hanna' i say in a low voice as she puts her textbooks in her lockers.

no response

'you need to let me explain'

no response

'me and ali aren't anything.' i say. i was telling the truth.

no response

'hanna, look, i'm going to explain weather you listen or not.' i see her roll her eyes and walk away but i follow her.

'alison and i were put in the romeo and juliet play together so she asked if she could come over to rehearse her lines since she was juliet. i was pretending to be romeo, (even though i wasn't) to help her learn her lines. it came to the kissing scene and she tried to lean in. i told her no and she was fine with it and we continued to practice. then out of nowhere alison decided to kiss me. i was in such shock that i couldn't move, or do anything about it.'

hanna stops moving and turns around and looks at me

'and that's whenever i came in' she finally says

'and that's when you came in' i repeat her

hanna sighs 'i love you' she says

i smile ear to ear 'i love you too' i lean in and kiss her

she breaks away almost immediately

'but.. i need a break. i need time to heal. i know you didn't mean it but you still kissed someone else and i just- i'm sorry emily' she says

my smile fades

'it's f-fine.' i stutter nearly in tears. 'i have to go' i run to the bathroom.

arias POV, lunch

the silence was unbearable between emily, hanna and alison.

hanna kept giving alison death stares. i can't blame her.

i remember that hannas been in the same situation before but with caleb and i. i've made 2 boys cheat. noel kahn and caleb rivers. i know mona hasn't fully forgiven me for sleeping with noel why'll they were dating but she's getting better.

'so, mona, how did you and mikes date go?' i ask breaking the silence

'good. really good actually.' she says with a grin on her face.

monas POV

'good. really good actually.' i said feeling a grin on my face.

'did you guys, you know, do it?' spencer giggles

'no. of course not. actually after i went to the cliff and saw hanna' i respond

i should've thought more about what i'd said because everyone went quiet.

'i have to go' emily says with tears down her face.

alison gets up to follow her but i grab her hand so she can't get up.

she glares at me then nods. she knows i've did the right thing letting her not go.

one week later, hannas POV, home alone

i miss emily already. we haven't even been on a break for a week and i already miss her.

it's late at night but i try to facetime her knowing that i won't get any response.

as soon as i press dial i see emily accept the call. almost like she knew i was going to call her.

i stare into her eyes for a moment. i give her a look of betrayal. showing her i'm hurt.

'hi.' i say looking down.

'hi' she mumbles

'hanna i'm-' emily is about to apologise before i cut her off.

'do you want to come round to mine and we can talk?' i invite her. it's still awkward.

'sure' she sighs closing over her laptop ending the call.
