tuesday
october 10th

Dan brought his shoulders up and tensed his already tense arms. The chilly october air reaching to freeze his fair skin. He smell of smoke on his jacket collar. Leaves falling from the trees in the ally as he crosses the street to the little diner.
"Dan?" Martha, the lady who owned the diner said as Dan went to the back to change. "Don't you usually only work here saturday sunday?"
"Hey Martha. Yeah but I said I'd cover for Sophia as she had to study for her exam tonight"
"Aren't you just the sweetest. Well we love to have you here so who's complaining" she hugged Dan and he hugged her back before she went out again and he changed to his working gear.

He said his greetings to the kitchen staff and went out to serve the tables. He knew tonight wouldn't be very busy as it was a week night so not that much time went into actually serving, he was mostly sat at the bar talking to Sam, the cashier.
"You know Dan, to get a someone you have to meet people. Put yourself out there more."
"How'd you mean?" Dan was cleaning off a table as he and Sam spoke.
"Like, Sophia and I go out to bars sometimes after work. You should totally come with us sometime"
"I can't. I have Ad you know" Sam sighed and tilted her head. Her dark blonde ponytail fell to the same side. If Dan wasn't gay he would probably have made a move on Sam. She was extreamly pretty and her personality was to die for.
"Dan I know you love him, believe me, but you're 21. You can't let your 12 year old brother steal these prime years from you."
"Sam you had Nala when you were 19. You're one to talk"
"That was because I was dumb and you're not. Don't get me wrong I love Nala but if it wasn't for my father I'd probably gone insane years ago. Who knew six year olds could be such little challenges" With that they both burst out laughing.
"She sure is a challenge." Dan said when they calmed down a bit. "In all seriousness though. Aren't all guys at the club just out for a one night stand? I feel like you'd just get std's by finding a date there."
"not all are that bad Dan. I've met some awesome people at the club. Like the other week a met a guy though he was a little too old for my taste, he was there with his brother though. I think you'd like him. His brother I mean."
"Yeah maybe but like how would I even meet them. I mean you met them there once."
"The brother goes there every Tuesday for gays night. What are you doing tonight?'
"was gonna order pizza and catch up on some housework, Ad's staying at his mates tonight"
"oh no no no no no!! You and I are going out."
"NO!"
"YES! It'll be great. You dont have to worry about your brother being alone at bedtime, I know for a fact you don't have work tomorrow cause of the repainting. We're going"

And even though practically every nerve in Dans body said this wasn't gonna end well he went with it. After they ended their shifts. They went to Sams flat to clean up a bit before leaving for the club. The club they were going to was called crazy pancakes. It was a cosy little karaoke bar on the main floor with a club in the basement. Todays theme for the club was gays night out so as Sam - as she is a great friend - said she would go with him so she could help him find someone to talk to then she'd head up to the bar again.
Dan checked the time on his phone, 9.30, he sent a quick goodnight text to Adrian before they went inside. The beginning of the night was alot more fun then he had expected. He and Sam had some drinks and Dan turned down like four guys. Then he saw a familiar face.
"Hey Sam"
"yeah"
"That's the guy who bought all the pins yesterday" he nodded his head to show who he ment taking another sip of his tequila.
"Really?" he nodded. "Dan that's the guy I was talking about, Phil." She elaborated her answer as she saw the slight confusion making it's was onto her friends face. "You know we met a couple of weeks ago, comes here every tuesday Phil"
Dan choked on his drink and wiped his mouth on the napkin while coughing.
"Wow. Is he alright?" The boy now called Phil said laughing as he hugged Sam hello.
"Eh he'll be fine. Looking for desency again?"
"Yeah, there doesn't seem to be much left in here" He looked around shaking his head. Before he looked at Dan and realised who he was.
"Hey you're the cashier guy from the record shop. Never thought I'd see someone like you in a place like this"
"yeah it's me and what's that supposed to mean"
"Oh no nothing bad just" he stalled for a moment before shaking his head. "forget it, so who's the gay of you two"
wow, Dan thought, He is really out going. Cute.
"I am" Dan said. The smile that emerged on Phils face was evidence enough for Dan that he was pleased wth the answer. Just then Sams phone went off.
"shit" she hissed under her breath. "Paul, that asshole, didn't show up after Nalas dance practice again she needs me to pick her up. Sorry guys I'll have to ditch"
"Want me to drive you?" Phil asked.
"Nah, a taxi will do fine. though you could take care of him. Make sure he doesn't go home before at least midnight"
Phil laughed and Dan rolled his eyes at her, looking down with a silly grin on his glass again as she ran off.
"So, mr record store, why can you not leave before spirit hour" Phil asked taking Sams previous seat by the bar.
"Sam dragged me out here to make me meet someone. She thinks my life hold no significance except being my brothers guardian"
"Ah, sounds like her. So you met anyone yet?"
Dan wanted desperetly to say he had because Sam had been right. Phil was gorgeous. His straight jet black hair and snow pale skin complemented his physical form so well.
"Maybe I have. A drink"
"I'd love one"
Dan was surprised by the shower of confidence in his body but he wsan't complaining.

"and that's how I ended up taking care of my little brother." Dan finsihed explaining why he worked so much and was the legal guardian of his brother.
"wow. You must be strong. I'm amazed that you not only wanted to but also managed to steady everything up for him in such a short amount of time."
"I mean, I won't lie it was hard but I had to. He is my brother, I'd kill for him."
"That's becuase you're an amazing guy"
The boys had moved from the busy bar to a calmer booth in the back of the club. Their night had been good, filled with informational conversations, questions and occational bursts of laughter.
"It's getting late and it's past your stay out time" Phil giggeled at the sound of his sentence. "This may be 'moving too fast' but I really like you Dan, you seem like a cool lad so my question is, since you said Adrian was staying at his mates, would you wanna come to my place? it's not very far from here"
Dan smiled when at Phils 'I like you' statement and nodded his head.
"I'd love to, could we stop by Nandos or something on our way cause I'm starving"
"yeah but they are closed by now"
"ah yeah"
"but we could order a pizza" he raised his left hand as he necked the last bit of his drink. Dan gave him a thumbs up and the boys were off.
