Phil could hardly sleep, but it wasn't because of the strange call that night. His restlessness was due to the strange environment. Every room was empty, left to build up dust. There was no home decor that littered the walls. The whole house was completely barren, unlike his house which either had the presence friends or the stray dog that he rescued, which was now his best friend. To top it off, the house was silent. The ceiling fan didn't make a tick, tick, ticking sound, like his did. Phil inhaled deeply, and when he did he realized another thing. No smell. Most people's homes had a particular smell and this one smelt like nothing. It aided in making Phil feel like he was in solitude confinement.
He finally did get around to going to sleep. He sprawled out on top of the covers with his face burrowed in a pillow. It was kind of hard to breath, but the weight off his eyelids seemed like a much more pressing matter. He felt like he had fifteen minute power nap when he woke up, but he knew he slept much longer. The sun was pounding through the window. He rolled over onto his back and shielded his eyes from the harmful rays that were being casted onto him. He laid there, taking a minute to build up the motivation to get out of the bed. There was a light tap on the door. It could only be one thing, Phil's motivation. He sat up and scooted to the edge of the bed and stretched, he then got up and opened the door. Dan nodded towards Phil and asked "How'd you sleep?". Phil shrugged and made a comment about how it was nothing like home.
"I found a thing for gas," Dan said as he lifted the red jug up, as if Phil wouldn't have recognized without Dan telling him first. "We can walk to the gas station down the road and fill it up for your bike." Phil nodded and left the door way he was standing in to make his way to the lobby. He pulled on his shoes and Dan came in after him, with his shoes already on. Phil glanced up at him and caught Dan patting his pockets. He pulled his wallet out of one and sighed when he realized it wasn't what he was looking for. "Ugh, where's my phone?" Phil felt his heart beat speed up, but just shrugged. "I'll be right back," Dan left and disappeared down the hall. Phil assumed he was going to his room to hunt for his phone there. Dan came out from the hallway after a few minutes, looking way more distressed than before. He walked over to the couch, pulling the cushions up. Dan let a breath of relief escape him and held his phone up. It must have fallen through the crack when Phil threw it. He tried to turn it on, but it was dead. "Let me plug this up real quick, then let's go." Dan disappeared through the hallway again. Phil had the empty jug now, swinging it back and forth to occupy himself.
When Dan returned they left the house and started to walk down the street. There were
more cars than last night, but the traffic was still minimal. Dan and Phil didn't talk at all, they just walked in peaceful silence, side by side. The walk was relatively short and the gas station was empty, so the job was effortless. Phil had lost his wallet, probably at the bar, so Dan ended up paying for it. Dan complained about how Phil was going to owe him, however the Phil figured the brown eyed boy wouldn't hold it against him. Dan had took the gas jug from Phil, "It's the gentlemanly thing to do, not that you would know anything about that," said Dan. Phil just rolled his eyes and took the jug back when Dan was clearly starting to struggle. Dan playfully whined, "I was doing just fine without your help!". Phil sarcastically agreed and in no time they were almost back at Dan's house. Once they got closer, Phil noticed a car parked in front of the gate. He looked at Dan to find any reaction. There wasn't one, so Phil assumed it was someone Dan knew. They were in front of the house now, right beside the car. The windows were so tinted that Phil couldn't see in, but the occupant revealed their self and got out the car. The man was tall, taller than Phil. He was too young to be Dan's dad, but too old to be someone from their school. Phil made eye contact with the man for a while and Dan just looked back and forth until he introduced them to each other. The mans name was Liam. "Hey, man." Phil said as he extended his hand towards him. The man nodded towards Phil, but didn't shake his hand. Phil sucked in air through his teeth and mumbled "okay, then" under his breath. Dan typed in the number for the gate and climbed into the passenger side of the car. Phil stood in the driveway, rocking back and forth on his heels until Dan told him to get in. He climbed in and Liam pulled through the gate. When they got to the front, they all got out. Phil cradling the jug of gas while the other two talked to each other. He glanced at them, managing to catch Liam cutting his eyes at him. "I'll see you inside then," Dan said to Liam and looked at Phil, "Looks like you got this under covered," gesturing between him and them bike, "I'll see you." Phil waved watching him leave. Before Dan could make it up the stairs, Liam caught his wrist. "Wha-," Dan's question was caught short by Liam's dominating voice, "You didn't give me a proper greeting, baby." Liam put an emphasis on baby and glanced back over at Phil. Dan laughed as he was pulled into a bear hug by Liam. They rocked back and forth with each other until Dan's back was facing Phil. Liam pecked kisses up and down Dan's neck which Dan responded to with giggles. Liam's hand went further down Dan's back until he was grabbing his ass, Dan gasped and Liam smirked. Liam was now full on holding eye contact with Phil. "I'll see you inside," Liam mumbles in Dan's ear and smacks his ass. Dan bit his lip and nodded. He went inside the house and now there was only Liam and Phil outside. Liam's smirk went away and he walked towards Phil quickly with his fist drawled back. He swung landing a swift hit to Phil's jaw. Phil held his face, a look of confusion building up and showing in the form of furrowed brows. "What the fuck man?" Phil exclaimed. "Take your piece of junk and get the fuck out of here. This is the second time hearing your voice, and frankly, I've already had enough of it. Don't come near Dan anymore." Liam was red with rage. This man must have some anger issues, Phil thought. He was clearly mad over the phone call last night. "You're just mad over the connection me and Dan have," Phil smiled and walked over to his "piece of junk" and started filling it up with gas. Liam was rambling now, spitting out threats, but it was all background noise to Phil. He got on his bike and looked over at Liam. "Oh, and Dan does like phone sex, he's made that clear to me. Just maybe not with old men like you," Phil said loud enough for Liam to hear him over his bike. "See ya around."
