as august walked to the car in the dead of the night, she felt a tug at the bottom of her Back to the Future shirt and almost jumped out of her skin. "Sai?! Mary, Joseph, and baby jesus that scared me," she whisper-shouted, trying to catch her breath. "what are you doing out of the car?" "i wanted to come get you and make sure you got out alright. sorry if i-" "sshhh!!" she motioned Sai to the car as she explained. "listen, my parents aren't exactly 'out of town' but i know you're a goody two shoes so lying was the only way i knew to get you here." Sai looked at her like he had seen a ghost.
"I'm sorry, i know, i know, it's okay, you'll be fine. they're sound asleep on the sofa." August encouraged, hopping into the car. "August!! I thought you were a goody two shoes just as much as i am! What's going on?!" she closed her car door and motioned for him to start the car as she said "i know, it's weird, but dude, so much crap has happened since you left for Simmons High. Penelope went missing, and-" "Penelope went missing?!" sai interrupted. "yeah, and after leia disappeared i-" she paused to sniffle and keep herself from shedding a tear. "I just need to figure out what happened to both of them. i have a theory and i think their cases could be very closely linked, and I met a cop that worked on her case, but my parents obviously didn't advise me too, in fact forbid me to, but i have to do it. With the position i'm in- wouldn't you?"
sai nodded his head in agreement as he sighed. "I wouldn't do it in any case, considering i get nauseous doing anything remotely frowned-upon, but yeah, i get your point." "good, and thanks, man. it means a lot that you helped with no questions asked." "yeah, anytime. as long as its legal. and appropriate. and allowed by a legal guardian or parent." "okay, okay, fine." she laughed. something she hadn't done in a while.
"we're here." sai said with a longing look in his eyes. "be careful, augustine. i don't need to lose someone who means so much to me." he said, putting his hand on hers before she left the car. he remembers the conversation we had about him being the only one who could call me by my birth name. august smiled and left and turned back to nod and wave at him before pulling out of the parking lot. suddenly the nervous feeling she had faded away.
august walked into the empty police station and her smile transitioned into a panic. where's eleanor? she walked around, longing to see eleanor's face more than ever before. "august?!" her eyes darted towards the left side of the office. what she saw in front of her wasn't what she expected. the face that lie in front of her wasn't only one of her blonde-headed friend-but a masked one, holding a knife to eleanor's throat.
