"so, let me get this straight, you worked on leia's case?" august asked.

"yes, yes i did. i remember the day she went missing very clearly. and it's blurry, but i vaguely remember seeing you with your parents there." eleanor reassured.

"woah."

"yeah."

"listen, i don't think my parents would mind, but can we take a drive? i need some answers...i know leia's alive-i just need to know where she is."

"i don't think i should..."

"please."

"okay, but a warning, i can't disclose any classified information. i can help, but you're not a cop, and there's no exceptions." eleanor assured.

"yeah, yeah, i know, i've seen chicago P.D."

"not exactly the same thing but yeah, sure."

"okay, i've sort of gathered some research and started an investigation of my own. here, i have some papers, lemme see-" august paused to get out a stack of papers packed into a folder.

"woah, aren't you 15? i don't even have that much paperwork for that case.." eleanor joked.

"well, yes, but i got bumped up a grade."

"oh. is leia—was leia in your grade?"

"yes, actually, we both got bumped. we met in 6th grade and became friends, and in the summer of ninth grade we both got an email saying we would be allowed to go up a grade and be a sophomore. i knew she was smarter than me though,"

"aww. well, i'll look into this for you, i know how important it is for closure and everything. but we have to set boundaries, okay?"

"sure. what are sed rules?"

"well, first off, no going with me on car chases, or going to a suspects house, or whatever the case may be, if it's dangerous, you're not going." eleanor instructed.

"you mean even that robbery that's going on at that drug store?" august said, pointing to the building across the street.

"shoot, shoot, shoot shoot shoooot." eleanor said, driving up to the parking lot.

she grabbed her walkie talkie and spoke loudly into it.

"we got a 211 on west and elm, i need backup."

eleanor frantically got out of the car as she parked it and came back to say to august forcefully, "don't. move."

august felt her heart beating faster as she saw eleanor tiptoe into the store, gun in hand.

her palms got damp and she could feel a drop of sweat trickle down her forehead.

this was the most action she had seen up-close.

and thank God she was up-close or she never would have seen him....

there. that guy.

i've seen him before.

he was—

as august connected the dots she gasped in realization.

that's the guy that was seen with libby-on the day of her disappearance.
