Chapter 5: Let's play a game

Maxine's POV

As we entered the room, I could feel all faces turn towards us. I lowered my head so that my hair covered my face. Zach may have noticed because he raised an eyebrow then everybody returned to whatever they were doing.

I sat between Zach and another boy. He seems nice, though hindi nya ata ako napansin kasi naka earphones sya habang nag babasa ng libro. I caught a glimpse of the cover, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

"Potterhead?" I asked

"Hmm?" Then he started to notice me.
"Ahh, oo Hahaha."

"Same, I'm Maxine, you?" I said casually.

"Sydney Lincoln Ramirez." He answered as he held out a hand.

Sosyal naman ng pangalan.

I shook his hand.

Zach cleared his throat.

Aba may nagseselos.

After minutes of waiting, pumasok na yung professor namin.

"Goodmorning class, my name is Darren Rockwell, you can call me Professor Darren." He said, his eyes roaming around the room. "I will be your Biology Teacher and your adviser."

So ayun nga, syempre first day, the usual "introduce yourselves" portion.

Pagkatapos ni Lincoln, ako na sunod.

I slowly walked towards the front of the class.

"Hi." I said, looking like an idiot.

Lincoln gave me a thumbs up. Kinindatan naman ako ni Zach.
Bigla ding pumasok si Oscar na mukang nag 10k marathon, after seeing me, he gave me a grin and sat down.

Omayy, Haba ng hair.

"My name is Joanna Maxine Hernandez, 17 years old." I said, sitting back on my chair.

After other students introduced themselves, the class started.

Pagkatapos ng last subject namen, which is Chemistry, we got dismissed.
I went to my locker and put my stuff inside, posting my class schedules on my locker door.

"ATE!" I heard Gab scream.

"Hoy ang ingay mo!" Bulong ko sa kanya.

"Hehehe sorri." Sagot niya.

"Let's go?"

"Ok, gusto ko na mag Xbox!" Sigaw na naman ni Gab.

As we walked and walked and walked, we finally reached the school gate. Sasakay na sana kami ni Gab sa Bus pero nakasalubong namin si Lincoln, looking hotter than ever. Wait what? He was standing beside a Hyundai Sportscar.

"Maxine! Sabay na kayo sakin, hatid ko na kayo." He said.

"Nako wag na, mag jejeep nalang kami, thanks na lang." Nahihiya kong sabi.

"No, I insist, sayang lang pamasahe nyo."

"Ok fine." I answered him, Gab eyed me curiously, giving me the look he does everytime I meet a new guy.

"What?" I said to him.

"Nung una, Zach at Oscar, ngayon iba na?" He joked.

"He's just my classmate!" I shouted, I didnt expect it to be that loud.

"Only a classmate?" Tanong ni Lincoln habang naka pout.

"Uhh, mmh." Were the only words that came out of my mouth.

"Sige na nga pumasok na kayo!" Sabi ni Lincoln.

The trip wasn't that long, nag kwentuhan lang kami at nag get to know bonding si Gab at Lincoln.

"Thank you ha, babawi ako next time." I said to Lincoln as Gab and I got out of the car.

"No problem, ingat!" Lincoln answered and his car disappeared down the street

Gab's POV

"You're back!" Our mom said as she hugged me and my sister.

"DONUTS!?" Maxine and I both shouted at the same time, as we smelled freshly baked glazed donuts from the kitchen.

"Don't eat much, save some for your father." Our mom said."So, how's your first day of school?"

"It was good." Maxine said. Not mentioning the whole bullying stuff that happened to me earlier.

"Though someone became a guy magnet." I said, teasing Maxine as she glared at me.

"Um, I'll just go upstairs." Maxine said as she headed for the stairs. Holding a whole plate of Donuts.

I came after her.

Our house has its living room upstairs so we usually stay there for most of the time.

My sister is lying on her beanbag reading a book. While I'm playing Call of Duty.

"Be thankful I didn't mention that you got bullied." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Zach, Oscar, or Lincoln?" I said to her.

"What!?" Maxine gasped.

"Choose."

"Why would I choose?" She asked

"It's obvious, they all have feeling for you. And you're not doing anything. Go talk to them and sort things out, wag mo sila paasahin." I said to her.

"What? Hindi naman pwedeng ganon ganon nalang, dapat may thrill, I mean dapat challenging, to know who really is deserving." She answered.

"Then let's make a game, or as you say, a challenge." I said.

Maxine raised her eyebrow.

"The Game of Love?"
