Take a look in backyard nooks
Much to see and always free
Turn around and look near ground
Look in tree, what do you see
Use your ears, what do you hear
Have a thrill by standing still
Watch bees sup from flower's cup
Buzzing tune all afternoon
Blue jays squawk, see circling hawk
Brown legs pump, see small toad jump
Pick up worm and feel him squirm
Put worm down, he slides in ground
Pill bug crawls, rolls into ball
Small brown ants crawl over plants
Chipmunk dash, a brown striped flash
Gray squirrels sweep through trees with leaps
Watch fawns chase in backyard race
Watch small snail leave slimy trail
See brown mouse run under house
Hear cat mew while chasing shrew
In streetlight see bats in flight
Hoot of owl in nighttime prowl
Flashing skies are fireflies
Take a look in backyard nooks
Much to see and always free
Turn around and look near ground
Look in tree, what do you see
Use your ears, what do you hear
Have a thrill by standing still
