The next few days were sped by, and before I knew it, the holidays were over and it was time for shooting again. Before we began shooting, Briar and I had some sessions with Amy (our choreographer) at the UDC to sort out our duet.

Our characters would be competing with a duet for one of the regionals rounds, and it was the first scene we were to film when we got back. However, we hadn't even began choreographing it yet, let alone practicing.

Pulling on some joggers and a hoodie over my t-shirt, I walked out of my flat. Climbing into my car and slamming the door shut, I drove to the Underground Dance Centre in the heart of Toronto, where I was already running late for my slot.

"I'm here," I announced, chucking my gym bag to the side as I walked into the studio l. It was just as I remembered it, the wooden panelled floors and mirrored walls.

"About time," Amy smiled, rubbing her hands together.

"Hey," I gave her a hug, having not seen her in ages.

"Someone slept in," Briar remarked, raising her eyebrows jokingly. This was the first time I was seeing her since New Year... this was going to be extremely uncomfortable.

"Yeah... sorry, alarm didn't go off..." I scratched the back of my head nervously.

"It's ok, let's get started. We ran through some ideas for the style and theme of our duet before Amy's assistant showed up.

"This is the music," Amy played the soundtrack 'Biciletta'. It sounded very 90s, loads of riffs and grooves that would be great for partner work.

"I'm thinking jazz," Briar suggested.

"And acro," I pointed out. "They go well together and we can show off or strengths."

"Ok, what about like a James Bond kinda vibe," Amy offered, the idea sparking off some potential scenes in my mind.

"YES," I grinned.

"Oh my god, it can be nice and old school," Briar gushed over the idea, no doubt planning some big lift that I couldn't wait to execute.

Soon Amy's assistant arrived and we ran through some choreo. Then Amy left me and Briar to our own moves.

"What about we do my upside down split. You know, on the build up. It would work," Briar proposed, referring to a lift were I would grip her arms and she would slowly do the splits but in reverse.

"Where? After the turning section?" I asked

"Where? After the turning section?" I asked.

"Yeah."

We tried it out, turning in sync before she pulled her leg up into a vertical split. I walked over to her and gripped her arms, one of her feet leaning against mine for balance and he other pointing completely away from me.

Her flexibility and skill never ceased to amaze me.

I tightly gripped her, pulling her back up cautiously and working the lift into the rest of the choreo. It filled the gap perfectly.
