drowning

i shut my eyes as i feel the water hit
i suck in oxygen as i swallow spit
my imperfect body feeling heavier then before
as i drift further and further away from shore
tiny bubbles of air float to the surface
as my sinking body quickens its pace
after awhile i sink to the floor
and then my lungs constrict and my head feels sore
my stinging eyes widen in disbelief
as i take in all around me a beautiful reef
and with my final seconds of life i see the sun rising far above
and i am immediately filled with the sense of love
and even though i know my time has come to an end
and I've yet to find a proper friend
i close my eyes and release as much oxygen as my body will let
and in my dying moments i cannot seem to find one single regret
