((This is essential for the story. I don't like them but it's needed.))
About a year later.]
John and Alexander were so perfect. After so many jobs and stress and.. a little bit of fighting. They were happily living in a small house. John dropped out of school, but they made sure to hang out with Lafayette and Herc once in awhile. John was walking Maria home. He still found her to be strange.. but he had to see her. She was like a sister after all.
Speaking of sisters, Martha and Johns other siblings moved away. John had found out himself and it broke him. Good thing Alexander was there to support him 100%.
"You really have to go?" John asked, as he walked with Maria. She was smiling. Her skin looked brighter and her bruises looked healed. She was so vibrant, bright, and happy.
"Afraid so, Hun. You know this is my Dream." Maria stated with pride. She was moving this weekend.. John was going to miss her a lot.
"I know.. imma miss you, Mar." John whispered, looking at the sidewalk. They stopped walking when they reached her apartment complex.
Maria was never one for physical contact. She was always shaky and cold. Plus after abusive years, it was a fear of hers. John was just glad he was able to get close to her. But for once, Maria cupped Johns face and made him look at her. She smiled gratefully. Her skin looking brighter than ever and her touch was warm. She was very motherly. Her eyes could brighten up a room, and mixed with her smile, she looked like the sun.
"I thank you, John Laurens." She said while smiling. John cocked his head to the side slightly.
"Why?" He asked, utterly confused.
"You set me free. Something others couldn't do. Everything you've done for me and m-.... Alexander. You are truly so amazing and understanding. You will make such a fantastic groom for Alexander one day and I simply cannot wait to see it. Until we meet again, John Laurens. Until we meet again." Maria finished and opened the door to the apartment complex. She looked back at John and smile. The sun seemed to strike on her just right.
"I will see you on the other side." Maria said, before closing the door. John blinked a few times and smiled sadly. He walked back home to his and Alexander's house.
God.. that felt so right to say. Their house. Not the alley.
It was home.
His home.
Alexander's home.
Granted, John wasn't home by himself with That roof over his head. He was home with Alexander. Not the bricks that held their house together. Something John had never appreciated before. He unlocked the door and opened the door.
"Jacky!" Alexander exclaimed happily and jumped up from the couch. John chuckled and shut the door. This would never get old. Alex ran over to John and jumped up on him. John held him up by his thighs and spun around. Alex laughed. Oh, how John loved his laugh. John pecked Alexander's lips for a few seconds then pulled away. Alex blushed a light red and smiled. John smiled back.
"How was your day, love?" John asked as he carried Alexander. He had gained some weight from being able to eat properly but he was still light. Plus John was more buff and fit. He had a muscular body so he was able to carry Alex around as if he were a child.
"It was alright. I mostly just did some writing. Oh! And I watched Disney movies! It was so fun but I wish you were here." Alex said happily, but whined at the end of his sentence. John chuckled and grabbed a bowl of grapes from the fridge. He sat down on the couch with Alexander sitting on his lap.
"How was work?"
"Meh"
"That sounds exciting."
"Shush. It's boring."
"Yeah but I'm grateful you work so hard for us.."
"God, I love you, Lexi."
"I love you more, Jacky." Alexander whispered and smiled.
"I'm going to marry you some day.." John whispered to Alexander, gently brushing a strand of hair away from his face. His face turned red and he leaned into Johns touch.
"I would love that.." Alex whispered back. He thought for a moment.
"Would you want kids with me?" Alexander asked softly. John blushed pink and his lips curled into a smile.
"Of course. You know I love kids." John said, thinking of his younger siblings.
"What would we name them?" Alex asked, leaned his head on John's shoulder. John popped a grape into his mouth.
"I don't know." John mumbled. Though, he secretly wanted to have a daughter named after his mother.
"I like the names Philip or Luka for a boy and then for a girl... maybe Rachel or Maria? Or your mothers name. Maryann was it?" Alex asked. John smiled sadly and leaned his head on Alexander's.
"Yeah.." John whispered. There was a peaceful silence until thunder was heard and the house shook slightly. Alexander immediately tensed. John set his bowl of fruit down and wrapped his arms around Alexander. He started to hum to calm Alexander down. Alex cuddled against John and held onto him tightly. Rain poured and hit their window. John kept his arms around Alexander but reached down and grabbed headphones. He put them on Alexander and put one something on Bluetooth. It was a peaceful summer day in Alexander's ears. He smiled blissfully and relaxed his body. John smiled and closed his eyes. Slumber overtook him.
{Dreaming}
Clouds. All the eye can see is clouds. John looked around confused. Seeing large castle like gates in front of him. People inside had angel wings.. what happened? Through the gates, he saw a familiar face. Maria was there smiling. She looked so happy... she was talking to another familiar face. John realized who it was and he tensed. It was his mother. She was as beautiful as ever. Wearing a white dress with feathery wings coming from her back. They both looked toward John and smiled. They waved to him and went to the gate.
"Hello my child.." Maryann said. Her voice was soft.. John hadn't heard that for such a long time.
"M-Mom.." John stuttered out. Maryann smiled sadly.
"I'm so proud of you, son. More than you could ever know." Maryann said happily. Maria stepped forward and reached her hand through the gate and cupped up Johns face as she did earlier.
"Thank you for freeing me. And taking care of my son." Maria said softly. Maryann put a hand on Maria's shoulder.
"Y-your son? What?" John was so confused. Maria giggled.
"Oh child. I have forgotten to tell you. But I still won't tell you." Maria said softly.
"No no no please tell me. I'm so confused." John pleaded.
"Until the time is right, child. Until the time is right." Maryann responded.
"I love you, Jacky" Maryann whispered. Tears went down John's face.
"I love you too Mama.. forever and always.." John said sadly.
"Until we meet again.." Maryann said. John backed up from the gate and nodded..
"I'll see you on the other side.."
