A L I S O N
My nude platform heels click against the cold floor of Trinity High. Everyone is staring. Lots of whispers here and there. Fingers pointed at me and people yelling cheater as I walk through the hall that used to be my runaway.
Breathe in and out.
Just keep your head cool.
You know you are no cheater. Believe in yourself.
I walk to my locker, my chin lifted up all the way. The facade of a strong and confident girl needs to work. It's what people say, fake it until you make it.
Seeing Scott was something I tried not to think about. I wasn't ready to see him, to see who he is with and how hot he is looking after one goddman year.
I try to spot Madison among the people in the hallway, her face in the middle of the crowd but I don't see her anywhere. Instead, I meet a particular pair of eyes.
Light blue ones.
He runs in my direction, a bright smile on his face. We meet each other in the middle of the hallway as I wrap my arms around his neck and he lifts me up with his hands on my waist.
I let out a genuine smile as Tristan puts me down and places a kiss on my cheek, almost touching my lips.
Such a heartbreaker.
"People will think we are dating, Tantan." He rolls his eyes at the nickname I chose for him two months ago and I just let myself laugh.
"Fuck the others, queen." I smile at the nickname he has decided to use since day one because for once, I feel powerful. Tristan is the only person in the world, except for Emma, that believes in me.
Our friendship is one of a kind.
"Have you seen Madison?" He frowns at the exact same time I finish my sentence and all I can do is tilt my head while he thinks of something to say to me.
What happened to her?
"She isn't the same person, Allie." He crosses his arms as I get more and more anxious about what he has to say. She was fine before I went to Chicago. We have been friends for almost one whole year and I could say she had been more important than my other best friend was ever since she stood up in Scott's side. "Madison is the new minion of Caroline."
I turn around as I realize that everyone stopped talking suddenly.
My lips part and I bit them, trying to calm down my heartbeat, not because of Tristan says. Now that she's in Carol's side, I could care less about what Madison has been doing with her life. A fake friend is better far away.
