Chapter 10

Anabelle made sure to come to the kitchen after her dad left for the office and Lisa went to drop kids, she did not want them to interrogate her, she made a quick breakfast and headed to university.
All the time she was restless, her mind clouded with different thoughts, she was planning on how she would tell her dad what happened, she will tell from the start about Leonardo's behavior, how uneasy he made her feel, that how she wanted to move from here as soon as possible, she really hoped her father for once will listen to her. She had to be tuff for once.
when she was on her way home a car slowly stopped beside her, she was frightened and rooted to spot but when its door opened she was surprised to see Mr. Ambrogio with a warm smile, she remembered last night how he saw them in a compromising position and she instantly felt embarrassment.

Alexander senior, "Anabelle, do you mind if I have a word with you?"

She looked apprehensive.

"Don't worry, I need to discuss something with you, I will drop you at your home," he added with a gentle smile.

She took unsure steps towards the vehicle and entered the car which moved on, he started by saying, "I am sorry for the unfortunate event, I am handling the situation at bay, your only hope right now is me, so listen to what I have to say. Leonardo has genuine feelings for you, he has never felt like this for anyone, I know what you will say but I am his father and I know this because I saw his new form last night, he did not even realize this himself but give him some time, just look him positively for once, that is only I am asking of you."

She was surprised at his speech, "how can you take side with him, do you realize if you wouldn't have come what he could've done? you expect me to like him after his behavior?" her voice was trembling.

"Anabelle, this is because you reject his feelings for you, he would have never ever pursued you if that was not the case, why should you always humiliate him? why you are not ready to give him a chance?" he asked patiently.

Alexander senior would make sure that by the end of this ride they both will be on the same page. He sighed when he saw her eyes getting watery.

"Not everyone is going to be like your father, I know you feel betrayed and left out by your father's behavior, you can have everything in the world if you want, just because you will have Leo by your side, I will personally make sure of it," he added.

The Ambrogio was known as ruthless and merciless in the business community and he was sure that naive girl did not know this. He promised his son and now his plan to fulfill that promise had already started.

As expected the waterworks started from Anabelle's eyes, he gave her a tissue box and continued, "Your father was losing big shares in his company, I had to buy them today just to make you happy, only last month I gave him a hefty amount for the loss his small company endured. He has everything at stake, won't you be responsible and do what daddy wants?" Alexander senior said with a cruelly calm voice that did not show any emotion which ran a cold chill in the spine of Anabelle.
She looked at him and said while the tears ran freely on her face, "are you blackmailing me? have you done all of this so I can do whatever your son wants? you also have a daughter, what if this happens to her? would you recommend all this to her too?

"My daughter is sensible enough to realize that you are fortunate enough to be loved by someone, she knows not everyone is lucky in terms of love, she would hold on to that love, I suggest you do that too. I have talked to your father, rest is on you, don't try to do something you will regret," he added in business mode, he knew he had her where he wanted.

The car stopped and the guard opened her door side when she stood by her house's gate, Alexander senior added, "I hope you will make a wise decision. Good-by for now Anabelle."
She looked at that expensive car as it went away and thought how can her life turn upside down!

Anabelle went directly into her room and dropped herself on the bed, her mind was blank, she wished if this is just a dream and she will wake up and there will be no Lisa, Leonardo. She kept forming plans in her mind and slept off when she woke up it was dinner time. She realized that it was hunger pain that made her wake up, she relaxed to see there was no one in the kitchen she took her portion and ate, she went to her room, took a shower and started doing her university work when there was a knock on her door and she opened to find her dad smiling at her, for a few seconds she was lost in that smile, she did not remember when was the last time her father smiled lovingly at her.
"Anabella, sweetheart I hope you have time as I wanted to say something in detail", he entered her room and sat on the sofa at the side of the bed.
She dragged her feet and sat in front of her father. She realized she has to fight a losing battle here.
