Chapter 14

"How many fucking times are you going to ask me that shit? I came to meet you all the way from New York for your birthday and you are starting a fight, I told you she was a friend, why don't you focus on your study and our future."?

Leo was yelling at Ana. She had again ruined his mood by asking about a photo in which Leo and a beautiful woman were shown getting in a car in an airport.

"You didn't come for my birthday, it was yesterday not today and I know you arrived here two days ago. Do you want me to turn blind to the fact that my fiance was partying in Milan with a leggy blond on my birthday? now you are yelling at me because that is what guilty people do to hide their guilt," she yelled at him in equal anger, she was fed up from the humiliation phase which she has been facing since she got engaged to this unfaithful man.

They were currently sitting in Anna's room, earlier in university, her classmate Maria showed her the pictures and the class started to gossip about how pitiful Anna's life is as her so-called fiance was always seen with a different woman, She just wanted to disappear from there.

"Every time you just have to give me a god damn headache, I am getting sick of your tantrums, you have turned what nineteen or twenty? at least grow up and act like a mature person." Leo was literally fed up.

"Maybe now you realize that we are not good for each other,"?
Anna voiced her opinion.

"So you do all this because you want me to break the engagement off"?! Leo was surprised because he thought she was too naive to put a fight and argue, but lately she is just doing that.

"No, I knew that I won't be happy with you, and the fact that you don't even want to put an effort makes it more clear to me," she said while looking him in the eyes.

"We only got engaged three months ago, what rubbish are you talking?" Leo asked calmly.

"I want you to reconsider it." She said turning away from him.

"You really are a bitch," Leo spat.

Anna was shocked that he will use abusive language with her, for a moment she just looked at him surprisingly.

"Get out from my room," She managed to act strong.

"This is not over," He threatened and slammed her room's door on his way out.

Annabelle exhaled her breath and sat on her bed, she was blank, will he degrade her, will she be in an abusive relation?!.

The next day Ana called Rose, she was desperate and now she needed someone to know what she is being gone through, her father and Leo's parents were of no help she knew that because they were the mastermind behind her miserable situation.

"Why did you not say something earlier?" You could have avoided this!" Rosaline was shocked at hearing all the things she was hearing from her. Ana told her from the start, Leo's harassments, his father's blackmail, even her own father's pressure.

"I had no one at my back Rose, I was just an eighteen-year-old girl who was uprooted from her home and forcibly my life's decisions were taken without even asking from me, trust me I tried to reason with my father but to him, Leo and a business deal is more important," Anna said helplessly.

"It had been the toughest one and a half year of my life, I never knew I would be the puppet in everybody's hand, please Rosaline  help me, I don't want to be with him, I don't want to live here anymore please I beg you." She sobbed at the end.

"Ana please don't cry, I wish I was there with you, look let me talk to Alex, maybe he can help." Rose tried to calm her.

"I don't know, why would he help, but I cannot take this pressure anymore, I will kill myself if not gone far from Leo." Ana was tired.

"Hang on there, I will call you as early as I discuss this with Alex. Alright?" Rose asked her.

"Alright," Ana sniffed and they both said goodbyes.

Ana sold her earrings of diamonds gifted by Rose. She had made the other bank account and whatever cash she got she would put in that account, as she had few months left in completing education and she was getting ready to leave her father's home with less fuss, she had started packing essentials discreetly.

She was applying for jobs in Manhattan, she already had a studio apartment there which she inherited from her mother.
If things will work in her favor she will run away and never in her life she will meet her father and Leo.

"You want me to lecture Leo about how he should spend his life? Do you think he will listen to the guy who is just like him, just a few years old? He is my brother Rose, we are cut from the same cloth," they were having breakfast when Rose told her elder brother about how unhappy Ana is with Leo.

"No I am not saying that you should make amends between them, I am saying that Ana wants to break off the engagement," she said with a serious face.

"Sweetheart, it is too early for you to drop the bomb twice your size, you know the consequences right,?" He drank his juice and got up from the chair for the office.

"So you won't help her,?" She asked desperately and also stood up from her chair.

"We will talk about this in the evening, we have to be rational, Alright"? He asked her.

"Alright, I will wait for you," Rose become somewhat relaxed.

"Relax we will find a solution," Alex kissed her forehead.

"I am worried about Ana, she said she will kill herself, she is my only best friend I don't want to lose her," Rose hugged his brother, her voice laced with worry for her friend.

"She won't do it, Ana is stronger than that, don't worry I will talk to Leo, Bye see you in the evening" Alex assured her.

"Bye," she smiled at her brother.
