Oh wait, too late
Destiny met me half way
It's great when fate cooperates
But I hate how great this citrus tastes
Please don't evaporate
'Cause lately my awake feels faker then my dreams
I pray my maker helps me keep up with my fate

In my semi-consiousness, I hear my bedroom door creak open, and light footsteps tiptoe across my floor.

Don't bother me. I'm sleeping, can't you tell? Oh no, Annie's by the window. NO. Don't open the shade.

Apparently, people can't hear my thoughts, and the sound of the curtain sliding on the curtain rods fills the room. Light filters gently across my bed, and I pull my comforter over my face, trying to catch desperate seconds of sleep, before my tormentor employs other mean tricks to try to wake me up.

There's a slight creak as the the person climbs onto the bed next to me. I pull the comforter closer.

"Wake up, princess," a soft voice whispers next to my ear.

Hayden?

I open one eye, and raise my eyebrow at him. "H-ey, u-h, Hayden, what are you-what time is it?"

"Time for you to get up." Hayden grins.

I roll my eyes at his cheesiness and close my eye again.

"Come on, sweetheart."

This time, I pull the covers over my head. "Don't give me that," I grumble, my voice muffled under the covers.

"I bought you chocolate covered donuts," he offers finally.

When I stay silent, he adds, "...and blueberry cake donuts..."

I briefly consider opening the comforter.

"....from Shiloh's..."

Reluctantly, I peek my head out of the warmth of the covers. "Really?"

"Yeah," Hayden grins victoriously. "Come out and see."

"No." I roll away from him, closing my eyes again.

"Suit yourself." He scoots off the bed and moves towards the door. "I'm gonna go pig out on some delicious donuts with Annie. We're gonna have chocolate milk and strawberries with it, and Annie might make some eggs and bacon..." Pausing by the door, he looks back at me and adds, "There miiiight be some left for you...who knows?"

I groan. "FINE. Don't eat anything. I'll be right there."

Hayden laughs, and comes back over to the bed to scoop me in a big hug. "We'll wait. Don't you worry your pretty little head."

I shove him off playfully, and he gives me a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room.

Once I finally get up, I grab a robe and trudge towards the kitchen. Annie and Hayden are laughing about something when I come in.

"G'morning sleepyhead," Annie teases, sliding a cup of chocolate milk over to me. "How are you?"

"I don't know." I laugh. "I'm trying to decide between hugging Hayden for bringing me donuts or slapping him for waking me up."

They laugh, and Hayden comes over to hug me.

"I think you should just hug me." He gives me a kiss on the cheek, and I wrap my arms around his waist.

"Ew, get a room, people," Annie laughs. "So...are you guys gonna confirm it to the world?"

"What?" I push Hayden away, smirking as he pouts.

"Are you going to confirm it?"

"We're not dating," I say, and reach over to the box of donuts and grab one.

"Yet." Hayden adds. I raise an eyebrow at him, and he laughs.

I sink my teeth into a donut. "I don't know about you, but I'm going to eat."

"Hey, me too!" Hayden and Annie wrestle for the one vanilla iced donut, and Hayden finally gives it over. wHaT a gENTLEMaN.

The rest of breakfast is laughing, eating (dUH), and the last half, we relax on the couch and start watching the new season of Greys.

"I DON'T LIKE LINK," I scream, as he tries to talk to Meredith AGAIN. Hayden laughs, holding his phone up to record me freaking out.

"Guys." Annie says suddenly, looking at her phone.

"What?"

"Guys. Turn it off." she motions to the TV, and Hayden slowly turns it off.

"What is it?"

Annie hands me her phone with a shaky hand. I look at it for one second. A photoshopped nude of me, plastered all over social media. Hate comments fill my posts and messages, and news coverage has already picked up on it.

"But h-how?" I stammer, staring at Annie in confusion.

She shrugs, her eyes wide. "I have no idea. It must have happened yesterday, because it's all over now."

My arm falls limply to my side. My head drops, and I stare numbly at my lap, my heart rate picking up.

Why? Just when it seems to be getting better, it all comes crashing down.

I hear Hayden gasping as he takes the phone from me to see what it is.

"Kenzie!" His hands go around my face, and he lifts it to look him in the eyes. "Stay with me. Please."

The room starts spinning. I stare at him in dazed confusion.

"Kenzie. Take a breath. In...out. Come on, please." he begs, but I can barely figure out what he's saying.

"Wha-t?" I whisper breathlessly. "I can't-"

My heart skips several beats too many, and my breath catches in my throat. I swallow hard, and blacks spots appear in my blurry vision.

"Kenzie." I hear his voice faintly.

"Kenzie."

Hayden's voice begins blending with other voices, barely recognizable.

"Kenzie."

"You're disgusting."

"What are you doing? Just stop trying."

"Kenzie."

"Kenzie! You're a slut."

"Kenzie!"

"You're fat."

"Stop." I shake my head, trying to stop the voices, trying to stop the walls from closing in. "Stop!"

"Kenzie!!"

My eyes open again, and I can faintly see Hayden trying to say something.

"Stop! Get off of me!" My heart pounds so loudly, my vision throbs. Struggling, I push Hayden's hands off of me, and run.

Away. Anywhere. I need to go.

I stumble into my room, slamming the door behind me, and clutch at the bedcovers as I fall.

Helpless.

Lost.

Worthless.

It really never does get better.

My hands rake through my hair, trying to get relief from the relentless pounding, as the tears begin to come.
