After earning Joshua's favour (which could be seen as taking a future rival down, not that Liang Xingbai was interested in Fuxing Longyue), Liang Xingbai felt satisfied. At least he had a younger backer and brother in this world. By younger, it didn't mean younger than himself, but Joshua was indeed younger than Bishop Nathan and Nun Eva. He just hoped that Joshua wouldn't end up like Colonel Sanders (refer to Hypocritical Church (1)) and the other soldiers under him - he believed that although Joshua seemed dangerous, he was trustworthy.
He hoped that they had a good life in their new worlds and new lives. After all, they were his previous comrades, even if they didn't believe in him.
Although Star County was a rural place, the church was so grand that Liang Xingbai was temporarily blinded by its wealth and spledour - not that it was much grander than the main church - however, compared to the main church, this church was more sparkly, shining brightly.
According to the insider gossips (the servants and maids in the main church didn't bother to stop gossiping in the face of Liang Xingbai), the main church was dull because the resources were used to beautify the praying hall. He had never seen the praying hall himself, thus he didn't know how grand it was, again, according to the servants. Only the Pope, his servants, and the construction workers enjoyed the praying hall's great prestige. The High Bishop rarely went to the praying hall, doing both the Pope's businesses (which he claimed the Pope dumped on him) and his own.
No one could blame him and the Pope. The Pope devoted himself to earn the Father's favour for Fu Xing. For Fu Xing meant that he was earning favour for millions of lives that slowly dwindled day by day. The High Bishop had to work loads, covering for the Pope and uprooting shady things inside the church (people didn't know that he himself was the mastermind beind everything). Liang Xingbai wanted to laugh. He didn't know about the Pope, or rather, he couldn't be bothered with the old man that fanatic, but if they knew how the High Bishop - his father Liang Xue - really was, they might not revere him like before.
One thing that troubled Liang Xingbai was this weird premonition of being watched by several pairs of eyes. Although he didn't mind - reason being he was once a soldier of high position in his past life - he still couldn't quite accept the weird feeling which made him uncomfortable almost everyday...perhaps like a stalker. He had a stalker in his past life which was rather annoying. However, right now, it wasn't a single stalker but rather multiple of them.
One of them was Nun Eva. Liang Xingbai figured out much as she would ask him to accompany her on several activities, forgetting that he was a three years old boy with limited actions to choose from. She didn't seem to quite...care about that though. Sometimes, she would invite him to drink tea (somewhat acceptable) or eat small delicacies with her (he loved sweets, though not these delicacies).
Naturally, those delicacies were horrible but Liang Xingbai forced himself to swallow the poorly made food. At first, he thought that the church got a new servant who hadn't been trained by Marcus yet (or perhaps it's something that Marcus planned), but in the end, he found out that it was Nun Eva herself who made those small delicacies. Being a nun, Nun Eva had never touched the kitchen for a long time due to nun training and nun duties. Liang Xingbai didn't want to hurt a maiden's feelings so he ate a few and claimed that he was full. He would usually ate a lot before the designated time Nun Eva called to him for tea so that he didn't lie (which he hated to do).
Nun Eva didn't like sweet things, so she immediately threw away the excess delicacies or give it to the surrounding people. Our of courtsey, they would choose to say that it's rather nice. Although Liang Xingbai didn't like the taste, he had to admit that Nun Eva had put a lot of efforts to make the delicacies look very cute....
