Gigi was leaning on the counter with her cheek against the napkin dispenser. She was in the 7 and just downright depressed. Completely ignoring the 'always wear a smile' rule that her mom made for workers.

Why would she be sad? This should be the coolest thing that has happened to her. Her brother had magic powers over the elements! She had proof and everything. This stuff only happens in books. It could take her journalism career to the next level.

But she was stuck working instead.

And not only that, Diego probably hated her now. For no apparent reason whatsoever.

She just wanted to know. Was that too much to ask? She'd be good, she'd never tell anyone. But Gigi figured she lost all of her brother's trust after she posted her first video on Miss Information.

Was having a blog worth losing everyone she cared about?

Especially since Diego had run off. Where was he going? Was he even coming back? Should she tell her mom? The more she thought about it, the more she started to panic. What if he had run away and it was because of her?

"Hey, Gigi."

Miss Information looked up and was face to face with Daniel Miller. He was wearing jeans and a loose gray T-shirt. Normally any time Daniel was in the 7, Gigi would sieze that moment and throw a camera in his face, asking for an interview. But at this point she wasn't even going to bother.

"Hi." She mumbled staring at the counter some more. In the reflection off the shine off the counter she could see Daniel quite perfectly.

Diego may have real superpowers, but Gigi had super journalism powers. She could tell right off the bat from just looking at someone what they were feeling. If they were hiding something, if they were lying, or even if they were scared (which often happened when Gigi tried to interview an unsuspecting student for Miss Information).

He wore a tight smile that looked just like her mother's whenever someone asked her how business was going- forced. He had his hands stuffed in his pockets which made Gigi think that he was uncomfortable with the situation. And he kept on glancing to the door where customers were going in and out. Probably because he wished he was one of those ones leaving too.

With one little test, Gigi was sure that she could find out if Daniel knew about what her brother could do. And if he did know, then maybe he could tell her more about it.

But first she had to lead him into a false sense of comfort. She normally did this before she got all the juicy stuff out of students when she was interviewing for Miss Information. She'd start by asking easy questions like: What's your name? What do you think about the lunch food today? and then BAM! Did you or did you not go on a date with so and so? It would always catch people by surprise. Then they'd expose their deepest secrets to the camera. It was a Miss Information trademark.

She decided she'd have to use this tactic on Daniel.

"I'll take you to the locker room. There's extra 7 shirts there you can get."

Daniel looked happy that Gigi hadn't gone right into the whole Diego situation. Her plan was working. It made her smile as she led Daniel behind the counter, through the hot and noisy kitchen, and into the small locker room.

She pulled a green 7 T-shirt out of a small stack on a shelf and handed it to Daniel. He headed to the bathroom to try it on, leaving Gigi alone in the space full of memories.

As she sat down on the single long bench that spanned the entire area she could almost see her and her brother running around with sticks they found outside.
