The second the final bell rang, signaling the end of classes for the day, Diego booked it straight to the boys' locker room to change into his swimsuit. The locker room was large and the walls were lined with blue lockers. The one on the far right was Diego's.

As he started to spin in the combination, the door opened and Daniel walked in. The grin on Daniel's face probably matched Diego's. They had gone a whole summer without regular swim practices and now they finally could do what they loved.

"I can practically feel the pool calling my name." Daniel joked from his locker across the room. He had dumped his school bag on the ground and was getting out his swim cap.

"I know, right?" Diego said as he pulled on some blue Iridium High Sharks sweatpants over his swim trunks and grabbed a kaki colored shirt. There was a logo at the corner of the Iridium Shark. Whenever he wore the Sharks' uniform, Diego felt so proud of himself.

"So what are you thinking today?" Daniel asked as he pulled on the same outfit, "We should probably do a lot of stretching beforehand, I'm sure we're all pretty rusty from the summer off."

Diego nodded, but he knew he really didn't need much stretching. While all his friends were going on fancy vacations, he stayed in Miami. When he wasn't working at the 7, he was in the Iridium High pool. All the Sharks had a key to it and Diego was able to polish off his imperfections in his strokes. He beat his best time again and again.

"And maybe we should all do some introductions." Daniel continued.

Diego's head snapped up, almost banging on his locker. "Introductions?"

Daniel nodded, "There's this new kid and he said that he was on his old high school's swim team."

"Talking about me?" Came a voice from the entrance to the locker room.

A tall boy with messy raven hair sauntered into the Shark's headquarters with a condescending smirk.

Then he turned to Diego and his face drew up in a disgusted manner. Diego was going to ask what this newbie's deal was, but then he was hit with an overwhelming odor.

In Diego's opinion, the new member of the Sharks reeked of sulfur and mayonnaise- not a fun combination.

The two boys both groaned and covered their noses simultaneously.

Daniel looked confused as his teammates were practically gagging.

"Um Diego, this is Jax." He introduced, "And Jax, this is Diego."

"Your friend smells like rotten cheese and pickles." Jax groaned.

"Are you kidding me?" Diego shot back, "He smells like sulfur and mayonnaise!"

"Um..." Daniel was really uncomfortable, "I think you guys both smell fine."

The other two boys shook their heads and turned away from each other.

"Okay why don't we all just try to um, ignore these nonexistent smells, and try to get along." Daniel insisted, he pulled out a spare uniform from his bag, "Jax, you can wear this."

"Thanks." Jax said smugly. Then he started to one of the bathrooms to change.

But when he was out of Daniel's line of sight he shot Diego the most intense death glare Diego had ever seen.

And in that moment, something clicked inside the kanay. Diego had never purely hated someone, sure he couldn't stand quite a few people in Iridium High, but what he felt inside him was pure hatred towards Jax Novoa.

Daniel gestured for Diego to come over to him on the other side of the locker room.

"What's wrong with you?" The captain of the Sharks whispered.
