Cooking up crack rock was an experience in it's own. You see things like this in movies or shows but I was never one to see it in person till now. I never thought that i'd be involved with Tay and the shit he was digging deeper into but curiosity got the best of me. The way this nigga would bring bags of money to the dorm and stash it like it was nothing was something I wanted for myself. I never liked the idea of working but this shit will do especially with how fast paced it was. I knew just as much as I needed to when it came to moving it so I ain't worry too much about failing.

"Shit!" I exclaimed as the hot water being boiled in the pot hit my hand. I shook my hand to relieve of the pain before I blew onto it.

"Nigga you gotta be careful. That shit hot as fuck." Tay chuckled as he leaned over the pot checking the process of the substance evolving into a rock.

"Why we gotta do this shit anyway? Don't he got some type of workers to do this?" I asked rubbing my hand as I leaned against the table further from the pot.

"He do but he wants us to see how it's done. I guess so we'll have knowledge if he questions us." Shrugging his shoulder he looked into the pot again.

I sucked my teeth before I took a quick glance at my hand seeing that it was turning red. Shaking my head I begin to look for something else I could do other than being by that shit. I was better off placing them in baggies rather than cooking it. I wasn't even the best cook nor did I know simple ingredients to meals so I wouldn't trust myself cooking that shit anyway. I wanted to get to the more advanced things like moving it and getting paid. As far as I know, I was great with people and might even be a great salesman. But we would never know if Monty keeps giving us these basic training tasks.

"Ight, we just gone pack these shits up and we done. We gotta move these shits tonight and you coming with me."

My ears perked up. Now we were talking business.

"Wait so we really boutta do this shit? I mean, I'm coming with you to sell?" Tay began laughing as I kept my eyes on him searching for an answer. I know I seemed a bit thirsty or eager but I really needed the money. Being a college student was already hard as is so imagine being a broke college student? Ma would send money here and there but she was already financially paying for me to be in school. Tommie helped out a lot too especially with the bread she makes but I wanna be a man and have my own. Then I could take care of the two most important women in my life for good.

"Man you be asking way too many questions. I trust you as my best-friend and to help me move this shit and get your cut. If you can't do it, shit i'll get someone el-"

"Hell nah, i'm down!" I cut him off shaking my head. He smiled sinisterly. "Good. Now help me pack this up."

Grabbing as many mini zip lock bags as I can I brought them all to the table where the crack rock lied. Picking up the little pieces of rock with a tweezer, I place a few of them carefully into the bag strategically. Repeating the process as Tay helps by my side, I am somewhat dazed from my thoughts. I begin thinking on how much I would make today and if I do as good as I think, how much i'd bring home in the future. It was all so bitter-sweet. I knew that if Tommie were to even find out I was in this kinda work she'd be pressed and it won't be good. I could tell people think Tommie is the sweetest but once she is angry, she is a different person. I had to make sure she would never find out. If i'm planning to help her and ma out, I had to come up with a game plan to make them think I had a job while taking risks in this street life. I wanted it.. bad.
