Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry! I went away for a while without telling anyone and my editor had computer problems and I'm way behine on writing... I'm terrible, absolutley terrible at updating ontime. Sorry.
Anyway, this chapter is dedicated to the first Chloe in my life and I'm glad she approves {even if I did enjoy killing her =D}
A killer Point Of View
It was easy to sneak into the Imperial Hotel where Mrs. Chloe Sanders was staying whilst her husband was in America on a business trip. There was a back door next to the side entrance of the kitchen that had no surveillance cameras; in fact, this particular hotel was chosen by the soon-to-be deceased because if it’s lack of security cameras. I smiled as I thought of how Chloe’s feeble attempt at self-preservation was how I would stay unidentifiable. It was also more than easy to procure the blue and gold bell boy uniform from the staff locker room and add it to my current disguise of faux glasses and moustache. The uniform was comprised of a pair of black dress pants, shined black shoes, white gloves, a blue short peeked hat, and an almost military style jacket with a double row of buttons and gold cord lining on the sleeves, collar, and shoulder pads.
No, there was no problem until it came to locating the woman herself. But yet again, luck favoured the righteous and showed me my pray.
I knew she would be alone for the evening as her lover was also in America until the next morning, at which point he would call a taxi to the hotel and arrive at around midday. But being a vain and proud woman, Chloe Sanders would not eat in her room; on the contrary she would get dressed in her finery and dine in the Grand Hall with the other patrons of the hotel. I knew that if I timed this right, I would be able to find her and follow her to her room without too much hassle.
The Grand Hall was lavishly decorated in gold’s and silver’s with mock Renaissance frescos painted on the walls and high vaulted ceiling. The floors were made of a smooth white marble that shined in the light of almost a hundred chandeliers. I finally spied her sitting at one of the smaller, white clothed tables near the middle of the room where she could be seen by all in her scandalously low cut neckline. She was finished and was obviously calling a waiter to put her meal on her room tab, so all I had to do was wait near the bar to find out which room she resided in. A tall man in a waiters’ penguin suite walked over and talked to her in a hushed tone before making his way over towards the bar. She stood gracefully as though she were a ballet dancer and sauntered off.
The waiter stood at the bar close to where I was and said to the bartender, “Her highness is back.” Sighing a little at the end, he added, “How is it that someone so beautiful can be so snide and vindictive? It’s a wonder she’s managed to stay married for so long!”
The short blond bartender smiled slightly. “Well, what does she want this time?”
“The usual, her bill to be charged to the other man’s account and a Gin and Tonic will be brought to her room.”
“’S not so bad,” replied the bartender as he motioned for me to come over.
“Yes?” I said in a low voice.
“Can you take this drink up to room 447 to a Mrs. Sanders?” The bartender instructed, handing over a small, copper coloured tray which held a tall glass with ice and lime to compliment the alcoholic drink inside of it. I nodded my head as I took the tray in both gloved hands and turned towards the main hall.
The main hall was yet another large marble room but slightly more simplistic than the dining room. I walked to the nearest lift, making sure to keep my head lowered so that the receptionists did not get a good view of my face. Many a time had a thief been caught simply by the fact that a receptionist noticed they didn’t fit nor remembered their face. I waited momentarily at the gold double doors of the lift before being granted access. I decided to start my search on the fourth floor.
