I figured since Jaivon put me back in my old room that he was going to take it easy on me. When we got back to his place, he barely said anything to me. It was as if nothing happened. But I knew better, and as I sat at the dining room table, barely eating my oatmeal that the cook made for me, I waited for something to be up. Essence, who was sitting to the right of me, kept giving me apologetic looks. I don't know what she expects me to say to her. Can't say I forgive her, because I don't. Can't say everything will be okay, because it won't. I don't even know what the next move will be and until then it isn't much I have to say.
"Simmy, I can't take this anymore".
"Take what?", I asked her, annoyed she couldn't take the hint of not talking to me.
"You not speaking to me".
"You did it to me for weeks. Remember?"
"That was different".
"What was so different about it?"
"You-"
"Na Ess, there is no difference. We both did some shit the other didn't like, and that's just that. I just have nothing to say to you".
"Why?"
"You got me dragged away from my happiness out of fear that I will die. What would be the difference if Jaivon came in here right now and decided to kill me?"
"He wouldn't".
"You don't know that".
"I do".
"How?"
"He wouldn't hurt me like that. He loves me".
Am I on drugs right now? "Say that again", I said confused.
"So, I haven't been completely honest with you".
"Well that's pretty got damn obvious at this point".
"Jaivon and I have been like ... together for the past couple weeks".
"The fuck you mean by together?"
"Like ... he's my man".
"I'm sorry, did you just say your man is Jaivon? The same nigga who just had his pet bitch put a gun to my head? The same one who raped and beat me?"
"I'm not saying what he does to you is right, but he treats me good. I always wanted the type of guy he is".
"What? An abuser and a rapist?"
"Simmy-"
"Don't fuckin' Simmy me! Are you insane?"
"Is there a problem in here, suga?", Jaivon said now coming into the dining room. I dared Essence to say anything. She'll get knocked to the ground and I honestly will not care.
"Nothing is wrong Jaivon", she said, giving him a fake smile.
He walked over and sat to the left of me. He smiled vanished when his eyes connected with mine.
"Since you look poppin' pussy now, I was thinking of putting your talents to work", he said with that famous sinister smile.
"Excuse me?", I asked.
Chavonne came in the room and slithered over to me. She opened up a small piece of foil she had in her hand. She dumped the contents out in front of me and straightened it into a line.
"I can't watch this", Essence said, abruptly getting up from the table.
" 'Bout to see how you are on those corners. We already know how you are on the poles", Jaivon finally said.
