Dear diary,

7:30, dinner wasn't ready. I entered the kitchen to make some Italian spaghetti. I brought out my phone and watched the video of how to prepare it.

I finished preparing the food and served mom and dad. "You're a really nice cook you know? Don't you think of opening your own restaurant?" Dad asked me.

"No dad I'm going for journalism. Am planning to write a book and also publish it. It's my plan before I turn 17" I said to dad. "Wow, nice goal. All the best" Dad said. "Thanks dad. When we finished eating, I did the dishes and went to my bedroom to pick my Biology assignment and go to the study where we have a bookshelf so I could pick a textbook for my assignment research. And there I saw mom working out some things with her laptop.

Me: Hi mom!

Mom: Hi, Bailey, aren't you meant to be sleeping?

Me: yes mom, I have biology assignment

Mom: Alright, ride on.

I started dealing with my biology assignment and then I was lost in thoughts thinking of Zack. And mom was looking at me because I stopped writing and I didn't even notice.

***1 minutes later***

Mom: Bailey, Bailey!

Me: yes mom, {I said jerking up}.

Mom: I have been calling you, for over 1 minute now, even tapping you but you were lost in thoughts....In thoughts... yes in thought. So who or what were you thinking about? {Mom said in a funny way}

Me: It's nothing mom...Just thinking of how to put all this in order {I lied}

Mom: Common, it's something...Bailey am your mom and you can always tell me anything! And also, you have to understand that I was once like you.

Me: Mom, but I said it's nothing.

Mom: I know it's something, and is about a boy right?

Me: Okay mom, It's about a boy that...that...

Mom: That you like {Mom helped me complete it}.

Me: Yeah mom!

Mom: Tell me about him!

Me: Okay mom. There's just something about him that makes me like him, he's nice and very handsome and does not give up too early, and he's also the best basketball player. Though, he never really noticed me because we are not in the same class because he's a class ahead of me. He noticed me on the day when I shot the ball into the net. And after then, he started smiling and saying hi to me everywhere he saw me.

Mom: Um that's interesting...but you know that is just a temporary feeling which will soon vanish? So, don't ever take crush serious. Also, do anything possible to stay away from him. That doesn't mean you shouldn't talk to him. Am telling you to stay away to stop future unnecessary things. You understand right?

Me: Yes mom.

Mom: I also have my high school crush story to tell you

Me: Alright tell me please.

Mom: I was in tenth grade when I started having feelings on a boy named Jacob, but popularly called Morris which was his father's name. He was also in the tenth grade with me. He was the cutest guy in the whole tenth grade but I was very much sure I wasn't the only girl attracted to him.

Then, I told my best friend named Annie about it. So, anytime Morris is passing, or standing close to us, Annie starts making unnecessary noise. Making Morris think something was wrong. So, in chemistry class one day, Morris said he appreciates me for having feelings for him. Then I was surprised

Me: Who told him about it?

Mom: It was Annie off-course. I asked her and she confessed that she told Morris. Since Morris was leaving our school for another. And she said Morris is a nice guy who deserves to know. And I never saw him, even up till now. {Mom narrated crying!}

Me: Mom, why are you crying? {I asked totally surprised. Because I didn't understand why she would cry, or did she plan to marry Morris before it didn't work out?}

Mom: Because I lost my best friend Annie in an air crash when she was going to college.

Me: Oh! Mom is passed now, and you don't have to cry.

Mom: Yeah, that's true.

We prayed after I had finished my assignment and went to my room. Everything mom said reflected and resounded again. Indeed, crush is a temporary affection for someone...So I have to be focused in my studies. "But what if I lose my best friend? Just like mom" I thought to myself "It will be the greatest disaster" I thought. I quickly rejected the evil thought. "Flee away from me you devil" I spoke to my thoughts just like I was taught in Sunday school. When I was about to sleep, I received a face book message from Rick reminding me to do my assignment. "Thanks for reminding me dude, good night. I have done all my assignments" I texted him.

It was a cool Friday. Also, it was our school sport day so I wore my jersey top with my name "BAILEY" printed at the back. I reached school and met Matilda. "Hi girls" Rick said to us. "Hey dude" Matilda and I chorused as we all chatted going to our classroom.

"Guess what?" Matilda said to me. "What?" I asked her anxiously. "My dad want you and your parents to come over tomorrow for dinner at my house, he said he wants to get to know you and your parents very well" Matilda said with her charming smile.

"My God, that will be great. It's cool" I said smiling. "Miss Jackson and Miss Morris" our geography teacher said referring to me and Matilda. "Sorry sir!" we said.

"Sorry won't work this time around, you've being talking since class began and you know I hate that. Am sorry you'll have to separate. Miss Morris, move to the east side of the class and Miss Jackson, to the west!" Mr. Smith our geography teacher commanded us. "Alright sir" we said moving while Rick shook his head. I was glad Rick was in geography an elective class. He could help us with some geography assignment. "Focus in class is all you need, to remember what've learnt and make A+.

"Break came earlier than expected. And we went to the cafeteria. As we were going to seat down, Zack waved me over to his table. "Hey Zack" I said. "Hey Bailey?" he said to me. We talked about a lot of things. The Major we talked about was basket ball. After lunch, Matilda told me what I couldn't believe and what I don't think I will be able to believe. Matilda told me that he confessed to Rick that she likes him. And in returns Rick told her the same thing and Matilda was surprised and said "So it has not been Katherine all the while?" Matilda asked been surprised. I would never do that...tell someone you are having a temporary feelings for that you like him. What Matilda did wasn't right. Because it's just a temporary feeling....and God put it there maybe to know how self-controlled you are. Telling someone you're crushing on your feelings shows that you don't have self-control. All you have to do is to tell someone you trust like your mom or dad. And as good parents, they will tell you to do the right thing, which is to stay away from your crush for sometime till the feeling goes away. And having a crush on someone isn't something bad... God put it there. And anything from God is divine and pure, is to show if you can control your feelings. I think I'll talk to Matilda about it, and maybe tomorrow after dinner at their house
