I hug my binder to my chest, head down. My new friends surround me. They are so confident. I wish I could be like that.
"Oi! Look who it is! It's (Y/N)!" Jeff calls. I sigh, slinging my binder strap over my shoulder. I push my hair back.
I walk right up to Jeff. He looks stunned. I smile sweetly.
"Hi, Jeff. How was your morning? Mine was great!" I cheerily ask. He looks me up and down, confused.
"Uh, it was okay, I guess. Anyway, back to you." He directs. I smile.
"Oh, you mean the insults? Okay, fire away." I encourage, holding my hands out to my sides.
"Fag." Jeff starts. I roll my eyes, yawning.
"Yep, guess we went back to 2002. Right?" I ask, looking at the crowd. I grab Jeff's collar. "Being a faggot isn't an insult. At least I know how to leave the closet I was locked in."
I release him, backing up. He seems stunned. Jack grabs Jeff's shoulder.
"She isn't worth our time, let's go." Jack explains. Jeff nods, following.
"Yeah! Sure, I must have become trash in less than a minute because I remember you guys used to insult me every damn day!" I yell, crossing my arms.
I turn to face my new friends. They stare in awe. Ross drops his bag. I quickly cover my red face. Ross quickly picks up his bag, smiling awkwardly.
"S-so, umm... was that good?" I ask quietly. They are silent for a second before jumping up.
