The Blaze of a Ember {Book Three}

Chapter 5

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

Military wake up music blasted from Myū and Kiri's hammocks.

Called it. Ember thought.

The rest of the gang unwillingly woke up. Those who were feisty were glaring and Myū and Kiri like they were about to go off on them.

Kiri tipped his head and smiled innocently, causing sighs throughout them.

"ALRIGHTY MATES," Myū floated up. "NEXT STOP, SKY FOREST."

Ember noticed her companions glanced at each other.

"But... we're sure we're leaving Lucas to catch up with us?" Cookie whispered in worry.

"He'll catch up, I would think. You know his stubbornness." Cross replied.

And yet, I know you want to go look for him. Ember looked at her friend. Cross noticed her look. Her cheeks instantly flushed and she turned away.

Ember shrugged in response.

"Sooo we're leaving now?" Blossom asked, getting rid of that moment of awkward silence.

"Better be. Me is getting home-sick." Blade mumbled sadly.

Myū nodded and turned to Kiri who made his mist car.

"GAS PEDAL!" Shad shrieked as he ran towards it. Star grabbed his costumes shoulder and dragged him back slowly.

"No. Never again. Sorry..."

"Why Star disappoint Shad." Shad's head titled sadly.

"Get in the dAnG car." Aqua slithered in after Blossom and Myū.

"Yeah, listen to mum." A sly smirk slid across Blossom's face.

Deep grunt of Aqua. "Blossom. Not again."

"ROAD TRIPS!" Blade crashed in after. "Is this going to fit all of us?"

The Mew slid into the front seat next to Kiri. "YEH. KIRI CAN EXPAND IT."

Everyone followed in. Well, not everyone. Ember, Cookie, and Cross were the only ones outside.

Cross stared at the dirt. She showed nothing. Ember was considering approaching her, but she went into the vehicle.

So she changed to Cookie who was whimpering.

A surprised expression came into the Vuplix's face. "Ember? You're talking to me?"

"Yes. It's not like I'm not capable."

"Well, you usually don't like talking to us..." Cookie mumbled.

"You've been in here a while. Im used to you." Ember said, even though it was partially to herself. She detected the glimpse of sadness in Cookie's eyes.

Ember watched her, wanting to comfort her, but ya know, she's Ember.

But then tears started to form in Cookie's eyes.

Ember grunted and nudged her shoulder hardly with her paw, making her stagger.

"Come on, he'll be fine or whatever. Let's go." Ember padded into the vehicle and to her relief Cookie followed soon after.

"WE READY?" Myū looked back at them. When everyone nodded, she smirked. "ALRIGHT LEZ DO THIS."

The car was going at a speed higher then any other, Ember was questioning how Kiri and Myū could see where they were going.
