I sat in a circle with Nicholas, Andrea, Estelle, and Torryn, who was dragged here by his sister. We were an odd bunch, a few humans and two beings with wings that looked uncomfortable to sit on the floor with.

Andrea and I woke in a room one day ago, far down a hall of empty cells. Nicholas claimed we'd been gone five days, just as he was, and that we each have an x carved into our cheeks. I lightly traced my fingertips over the jagged edges of where my skin has started to heal. The last thing I remember was the hooded aliens approaching, chanting as they did so. We were both too paralyzed with fear, unable to move when they grabbed the back of our heads and traced the x's into our flesh.

"Ok, I'm going to repeat everything, let me know if I'm wrong." Torryn lay his hands flat on his legs, eyes darting to each of us. "It started with the disappearance of Nicholas, five days later he shows us with that scar on his cheek and unable to feel pain? And he woke up in an empty cell with the eyeless aliens?" Nicholas nodded and we all pretended not to notice his nails digging into his arm. "Next they come after Max, scarring him as well. No one can touch him without terrible pain," I looked down at my still mangled hands, "not even the Collectors. But they eventually dragged him off and he hasn't been seen in six days. That same day those aliens showed up in this cell and took the two of you? Yet neither have noticed anything different like Nicholas and Max?" He gestured between Andrea and I, we both nodded.

"Do you think Max is alive?" The question slipped out of my mouth, no one has had the guts to ask it yet.

"We have to find out what those eyeless things want." Nicholas clasped his hands together, ignoring my question.

"I still don't understand why I'm here" Torryn grumbled and was elbowed in the side by Estelle. "It's not our problem!" He hissed at her.

"You're welcome to leave." Andrea tilted her head to the side, giving him one of her glares I'm glad to never have fallen victim to. When he didn't answer, only met her glare with one of his own, she spoke again, "We can't find Max at the moment, however, we might be able to find the eyeless ones. They have to be here somewhere. Once we know what they want and what they have to do with the prophecy, we can save Max."

Wherever he may be.

I shiver ran up my spine. I couldn't imagine the torture they were putting him through. The horrors he was experiencing.

"I told you, I've been looking for them, while you two disappeared." Nicholas seemed to only be talking to Andrea, neither of them ever breaking eye contact, "but they won't be found unless they want to be." Goosebumps appeared on my arms and I shivered again. It had never been cold in the Collecting Point before, however, I've been cold since I woke up.

"Well let's give them a reason to be found." Estelle was the only one who still smiled and I envied her. She was still young and filled with joy, unaware of the real danger we could be in.
