Torryn placed himself in front of Estelle, Cosima wrapped her small arms around her waist and I took an automatic step towards Nicholas. I wasn't sure if I did because I was scared for myself, or scared he would do something irrational.

"Don't be frightened," they spoke in an unsettling unison, "The saviors rest unknowingly in the place of collecting. The sun and moon have risen, draped in red blood."

"What did you do to us," Nicholas demanded, taking a brave step forward.

"Awakened the power the rests beneath denial and hate." One of them reached a handout, running its fragile hands over his scar. I was shocked he didn't hit its hand away, he didn't even flinch.

"And what about me? Because I'm no different than before." I spoke before I thought over my words.

"The shadow that you can't run away from looms closer than ever." Their answer left me more frustrated then I was before.

"Why are you doing this." Estelle shoved her brother out of her way, "whose side are you on?"

"Not everything is as black and white as you think. Enemies are allies and friends will turn. We do not choose sides, it only leads to death." They took a few steps towards us and we scrambled backward.

"But will you help us free Max?" I knew Cosmia was desperate, but we shouldn't trust these things. "We'll help you get out of here."

"We can leave when we wish to leave. The savior will have someone on the inside, you cannot help him."

I felt my eyebrows pulled together when they said they could leave, and even more when they called Max the savor. But there was no one that could help Max but us, they must've gotten something wrong.

"Well then what do you want?" Cosmia screeched, causing us all to flinch. She's never been this angry and it scares me.

"The forever flame holds too much rage, release and see your power." I still couldn't get used to their voices, all in sync with each other, "We only help discover what is hidden, what is done with that power is up to you."

"What do you want." Torryn repeated the question we'd asked so many times.

"To enlighten."

Although the eyeless creatures left awhile ago, their words still lingered in my head. But nothing seemed to make sense. So I tinkered, let go of my frustration on the little metal pieces.

I used to be able to make things glow or move. But my little lightbulbs and wire have long since worn out. Now I just make little shapes and objects. Taking out screws and putting them back in was a mindless activity that calmed my racing heart. Reminded me of my home and family so long ago. Reminded me of how I hated the shop and the metallic rusty smell. I wanted to be a doctor back then, not a mechanic like I was forced to be.
