Eyes.

I wished they'd look away.

Chains.

I wished they'd disappear.

Heart.

I wished it would stop beating in my chest. Why did it hurt so bad when nothing else could?

I snuck glances at Andrea. Rust smeared across her face and her hair was frizzy and tangled. This place was so dark and yet she seemed to glow.

Did she always glow?

I couldn't decide if I liked this feeling. The feeling I've been missing for so long without knowing what it was. I've been missing it, in so many ways, it's just become another strange part of me. And I see now, the things that actually broke me were the words still stuck in my throat. The years of thoughts never uttered, just piling above each other.

Sometimes I still want to punch a wall. Feel the pain and blood run between my fingers. But maybe I could learn again, to let out a smile now and then.

I was once told great things happen when you don't give up, even when you want to.

I chuckled to myself.

I gave up. So many times I gave up and I still won in the end. Almost... almost won. We have to get out of here first, but for once I have faith.

Cosmia's been crying for a while now, I'm not sure how to comfort her, nor do I want to. We're getting out today, that's a cause for celebration.

I've come to the conclusion that Max talks to himself. Or whatever alien was inside of him. I still couldn't believe he was like that man, John. Our little princess has grown into a ferocious dragon, and I didn't like it.

Andrea checked her wrist, checked for the watch that hadn't been there for years. I never understood how she still forgets it's not there. But I know that when we're free I'll find her a watch, I don't know how, but I will.

My nails dig deep into the palms of my hands, an old habit. One to take away what I was feeling. It didn't work anymore, and I'm glad it doesn't.

"I would like to know what's going to happen, after I open these doors," Andrea announced suddenly, looking straight across the cell and into the one across the hall.

"We will be escaping," Zillah said simply, admiring her long nails.

"Or else I won't be opening yours." She snapped and I couldn't help but smile. I did wish we didn't need the alien.

"I know my way around this place. We're in one of the deepest parts of the ship."

"Ship?" I cut her off, all these years living here and I never knew it was a ship.

"Yes," I didn't like the way she glared at me so I sent her a quick wink, one that always set everyone on edge. "We'll get to one of the smaller ships, I can fly it. And then we'll go to my home planet, where we can be protected."
