I can tell if people are fishing for followers. If someone just randomly starts following me, I check their profile to see how many people they have followed since he/she joined WattPad. If they joined two days ago, and they are already following 57 people, I will not follow them back.
(I only do follow-backs if they have good books, or if they support one of my books.)
I really hate when people are total suck-ups about it. Like when they message me saying something like this:
"You are my idol, I love you! You are so pretty! I love your profile! I am new to WattPad so please follow me back!"
Uh, did you say anything about how good my books are? No? I will now go to your profile. You have no books published. You joined WattPad three hours ago, and you are already following 34,568,326 people. You have 4 followers. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't follow you back. Because maybe just maybe, you are fishing for followers! I will never take your bait! Never!
Ahem. Sorry, that got a little out of hand.
If you joined WattPad to become more popular, it's not going to happen. WattPad is not your ordinary social media site. It is a place for people to share their love for writing and reading.
Enough said.
