Disclaimer: I am not trying to offend anyone so if you are sensitive about cutting, the LGBT community, or anything of that sort, please no hate comments.
Okay, now lets get started...
Don't write about things you haven't experienced yet. I can tell if people are doing this. I was reading this book, and it said something like, "I was kinda sad so I went to the bathroom, cut myself super deep, then left." Why? If you are going to write about cutting, make it realistic. Don't just say, "I'm pretty sure this is how it goes." And go on writing it. No.
Please remember that your cutting is for people with terrible depression, not for just sad people. Cutting is the extreme. Only write about it if you absolutely need to. It is a sensitive subject.
Also, I always see books about "emo" people. They describe them like they have never smiled in their life, have no friends, have never been happy, etc. "Emo" people and girls/boys like it, are still just like you & me, but just have some personal stuff to deal with. So don't write about them like they are always depressed; People can be happy, you know.
Same goes with writing an LGBT, bullying, abuse story, etc. Don't just write on what you think may happen. That's just wrong, and offensive.
