The festival was always a place of unrestrained joy. The costumes lit up the spring day, a riot of color to rival any gardener's paradise. Music filled the air, festive beats lifted the spirits and made the people want to move, jump and sing. It was a time to celebrate being alive, celebrate the wonders of creation and be one with the community. The air tasted so heavenly with the chefs alongside the parade, every delicious thing ready to be shared with friends.
The costumes were as colorful as a summer garden. Bold yellows, magenta, cyan, and emerald green, There were sequins sparkling in the brilliant afternoon sun and feathers of every color. Wherever I looked there were painted faces and masks, The stilt walkers marched down the middle of the crowd blowing bubbles or waving as we went.
"Taiyaki!!!!" Serah yelled as she grabbed my hand and dragged me to the stand, begging for me to buy her one and to be honest, I couldn't even say no.
This is was she wanted for her birthday after all and usually what we do when we go to festivals anyway. We both loved the food stalls at these festivals, they're always so tasty so I never had to worry about spending money on toys.
"Thank you, Hana, for this amazing day," Serah said looking up at me causing me to smile at her.
"Anything for my little princess who is growing up way to fast," I replied while ruffling her hair
"Ooh...." Serah quickly turned and was mesmerized by the way the cotton candy was made in the bag. She stared at the bag with sparkles in her eyes just like the other children at this station.
Today was a day focused on her and everything about her. She was not pre-occupied on my relationship strain with Toshinori and All for One hadn't texted. It was an amazing day indeed.
The festival was feathers and sparkles, smiles and laughter. It was every outrageous thing and it brought such life to our souls. It was the grand party of the year, the one everyone was invited to. So I wasn't a bit shock to see some of the students from Yuuei high here.
"Ms. Hana!" Izuku yelled waving in Hana and I's direction while he came towards us with Shoto and Iida.
"U-um, hey guys," I said with a small smile on my face.
"What are you doing here Ms. Hana?" Izuku asked and soon looked down towards Serah to see that she was still distracted by the cotton candy to care about these boys presence.
"Well...its Serah's Birthday and we usually do this every year on her birthday and go to the festival," I replied a bit somberly as Izuku looked a bit downcasted but Shoto and Iida looked confused as ever, "Say Shoto and Iida, do you both mind watching Serah for a bit, there is one ride I can't take her on which she had been asking me to go on...do you mind taking her?"
"U-Um...sure," Shoto said grabbing Serah's hand as she seemed content to follow without protest, especially since the cotton candy in her mouth was on her mind.
"Izuku, spit it out," I said slightly irritated, "All Might is here?"
"W-Well...uh," Izuku mumbled a bit shyly, "I kind of saw you and Serah walk into the amusement park and told him...I know you are going to hate me but I wanted you and All Might to reconcile."
I sighed a bit annoyed with the situation. I wanted Serah to have a peaceful birthday, just like the birthdays she had for the past five years without Toshinori.
"Where is he?" I said getting straight to the point of this.
"Behind you, "a deep voice answered causing myself to turn around and take in his appearance--his true form.
His hair was messy and falling a bit in his eyes, he had facial hair that had started growing on his jaw and his eyes were circled as if he had not slept in days. He was also wearing a kimono that had not been properly put on. But he was still as handsome as ever...
