A few days after Tessa had lost her arm, she was shoved into a room with Volkov once again. In the room also was a chair, hooked up to a machine of some kind. She was forced into the chair, and a mouth guard was roughly placed into her mouth.

Wires were connected to her arm, her chest, her stomach, and her head. Confused, Tessa tried to fight, but she was weaker with only one arm, and the guards won.

Holding her down in the chair, Dr. Volkov turned on the machine, and uttered some unforgettable words.

"Longing,"

Tessa continued to struggle against the guards.

"Grief,"

The chair was electrifying her.

"Furnace,"

She started to scream.

"Daybreak,"

The words filled her ears.

"Five,"

The number meant something to her.

"Benign,"

She couldn't remember why.

"Nine,"

Her breathing slowed.

"Family,"

She stopped struggling.

"One,"

The guards let go of her.

"Gun,"

A blank look filled Tessa's eyes. All the grief and sadness that had been there since Jackson died had gone, leaving only empty brown eyes.

"Soldier?"

Tess replied,
"Ready to comply."
