"Soul Thief. Mission report?" Back at the Hydra compound, the brunette assassin was meeting with her superiors.

"Failed." The girl replied lowly, her gaze at the floor.

Someone slapped her cheek. "Look at me when you are talking," Dr Volkov ordered, his gaze hard. "And speak up. Mission report?"

"Failed." She said again, this time looking straight into the scientists eyes.

"Excuse me?"

"Mission failed. The target is still alive. I missed the shot."

Dr Volkov became enraged. "WHAT! You are telling me that Bucky Barnes, the traitor to Hydra, is still alive?"

He was greeted with silence, confirming his question.

De Volkov slapped the girl harshly across her face.

"Is this what we have taught you to do? To miss the shot?" He said hotly.

"No sir."

"Do you know what this means?"

"Yes sir."

He told her anyway. "You see, with all the fancy technology they have, they will run a facial recognition. They will find out who you are, and they will discover that Hydra is still operating. Then find out where our bases are, and they will come and destroy them. And probably will kill me, might I add." By the time he had finished speaking, Dr. Volkov's face resembled a tomato. Clearly extremely angry, he continued, "Your actions have consequences, and because of these consequences, you must be punished."

With that, several guards can through the door and forced her into the chair. Knowing what was coming, and that she couldn't avoid it, the girl didn't struggle. Opening her mouth for the guards to shove the mouth guard in, she braces herself for the pain that she knew was inevitable.

The machine turned on, and her screams were muffled by the mouth guard. She prepared herself for the fact this torture would go on for a long time. A wave of shame and disappointment washed over her. Why did I have to miss? She always strived to please Dr. Volkov, as he was the only person she really interacted with. The girl knew she had a life before Hydra, but couldn't remember any of it. Dr. Volkov told her it was a bad life, as her parents were dead and she had been cast out on the streets when Hydra found her. But the people that the scientist told her was to blame for all of it, for her parents death, were the Avengers.
