Finally, it was game day. Time to put my plan in motion. We got to the stadium early so we could set up. slowly, fans started to trickle in. Then came the final rush of fans right before the game started. We lined up to shake hands to the other team. When that was over, we got into our positions. The whistle blew. The game had begun. During the game, I looked around during a break of play and saw Alex in the stands. I figured the box office workers wouldn't give her too much trouble. She saw me and waved. I pointed at her and made a horribly shaped heart (it's hard to make a heart while wearing goalie gloves). She turned a deep shade of crimson. My small gesture sowed up on the big screen. I smiled and got back into position. I made one last diving save before the referee blew the final whistles. I got up and ran for the team picture. We played great. we won 4-0. After the picture, I winked at them. It was time to begin. Lauren, Lexi, and Caitlyn ran up to the stands. Liz stood in the tunnel with a suitcase full of clothes and other stuff. One of the sound guys placed a microphone in the middle of the field.
"Excuse me? Excuse me? Yeah hi. Um... If everyone could stay in their seats please. Yeah thanks. Uh... ok. Alright hold on one second." I said to the crowd. Everyone sat down. "Bring her out guys." Lauren, Lexi, and Caitlyn brought her out on the field.
"What's going on?" Alex whispered when she got close enough. I smiled at her.
"Suitcase," I commanded. I thanked Liz as she brought it out. "Ok guys. You're probably all wondering what the heck is going on. Can you guys wait a little bit longer? Thanks. Ok, you see, when I was 14, I made a promise to this girl right next to me. I told her I would take her around the world when I became a famous soccer player," I turned to face her, "and I intend to keep that promise." She out her hands to her mouth as I pulled out a plane ticket. I offered it to her. "Do you want to follow me and the team around the world?" I asked already knowing the response. She hugged me and that told me everything I needed to know.
"I would love to," she cried. She was full-on sobbing. I knew this had been her dream for a long time. "How did you manage to do this?"
"I'll tell you later," I whispered. The crowd clapped and cheered. I waved and thanked the patient crowd. I got louder cheers in response. I waved one last time as I walked into the tunnel to go to the locker room, on arm draped around Alex's shoulder. The plan went much better than I had anticipated. I had visions of an angry crowd, booing at me and throwing stuff. It went perfectly. It was one of my best plans yet.
Author's Note (I know, I know. I hate them too)--------------
If you guys could comment, that would be amazing. Tell me how I'm doing, what you like, dislike, what I can improve on. Anything. Just please, if it's criticism, make it constructive.
