It was spring when we officially moved in with Connor. But at the time it was what the government calls a ' Illegal collection of minor's at one home.' it basically meant that there were too many people in the home. Now the house had a lot of different people at a time. We had me and my brothers Jack and Jeff now along with my cousins Surrender, Cal, Connor, Ben, Slen, Abbadon, Jim, Luke,Luka, Alvin and Gally.
Luke and Luka are twin boys neither look the same or like the same things. But they both have one thing in common the lot and the gang. Surrender,Cal,Connor are related by their whore of a mother. Ben, Abbadon,Jim, Alvin and Gally are all related by their dad. Out of all of the boys Alvin, Luke and luka, Surrender, Ben and Connor all are the closest to each of us.
Now you might be wondering what's the "gang and the lot." The gang is us and the other kids that live in our side of the neighbourhood. What all of us wear mostly contains Tank tops, short cut hair and sweatshirts along with leather gloves, that's what us girls wear. Now the guys they have it easier than us girls. Most of the boys sport Short hair, Jeans, white t-shirt and leather jackets with patches over holes. It's a rule that us girls have pocket knife on us at all times. All of the boys carry a switch.
Connor,Surrender and Ben are the oldest of all the gang. When we moved in the group of boys from the top of the hills in a neighbourhood who All of the older boys call the "Richey's" what the name meant was how they lived in their big houses with no worries of anything.
In the past Connor and the oldest boys made a rule that if any of us were to go anywhere we'd have to have another person from our group had to come with us. The only reason we did that is when me and Gally were walking home we found Surrender face first down in a pool of blood. His skull was bashed in and he had bruises all over him. Gally and me lugged his heavy body three miles up the road. What was the worst was at the time we couldn't take him to a hospital so we treated him at home for the most part.
I remember one time I broke the two person rule and got beat up. Three of the another gang no one ever told me about spotted me with my hair dyed blue and cut short. Most people see those two things and run the opposite direction of me.
But these three boys didn't seem to notice this. The car was a nineteen seventy-two looking corvette with a cardinals sticker on the back windshield. One of the boys got out and started to walk a normal pace behind me. As I Looked behind me I knew the inevitable, so I slouched backward and put my hands in my front pocket. That's when I heard the car door slam two more times. I risked a look behind me again. This time there was three guys following me. I was in a nervous sweat now jogging. The three boys were running after me now. I went down six or seven different alleys pulling garbage cans down to try to slow them down till I could get to my brother Jeff's work. When one of the boys tackled me I was in front of Jeff's work.
Jeff was working in the very back of the shop that day. The one boy that tackled me was throwing punches at my face, I tried to block most of them of which I did but a few good ones hit me well enough to knock me head into the concrete pavement that made the sidewalk. Eventually I got enough strength to buck my stomach upwards and make the boy lose his grip. That's when a set of hands came down on my arms pinning me to the ground. I was able to get in a good left hook in. That's when it felt like someone stabbed me with a stick of dynamite. Apparently I put enough fight up because I saw a glint of a red hot smoking gun barrel in time to roll away.
the side of my thigh wasn't so lucky. I screamed then followed by the sound of a gunshot. that's when I heard Jeff and Ben screaming and hollering. I couldn't tell at who. When I did hear anything I heard Ben saying.
"Crap, they got her pretty darn good."
"I'll go get the first aid."
"Hurry up Jeff she's not gonna last long." The world faded a few degrees of color. My brain was trying to shut down. Before the world fell into the dark abyss I saw Ben and Jeff, Ben was knelt down in front of me snapping his fingers and shaking and desperately trying to keep me awake. Jeff was on the phone he looked really worried. When he ended the call I saw who he called He had called Connor, With that the darkness took me.
When I woke up Jeff was sitting sideways with my head in his lap. He looked as if he was going to cry. I went to move my head but any movement sent pain down my body and ebbed toward my thigh. I heard Connor ask Jeff,
"How she look'n Jeff, she awake." Jeff looked down and in a matter of a few seconds his face lit up like a christmas tree.
"Yeah, We almost home."
"Yup try to keep her awake until we get her home, Ben; you call surrender."
"Done; he's getting stuff set up at home, he's gonna have luke and luka meet us outside to help get her inside the house."
"Okay." the rest of the car ride was silent besides the small clicks and beeps Jeff made to kill the awkward silence.
"We're home you three." I went to move my leg to sit up, Jeff pushed down onto my upper half saying.
"Stay still kid." Jeff nodded to Ben and Ben opened a door. The bright light that cascaded into the car made my legs and torso flick upward with the sudden bright light. Ben opened the door and got out then Jeff got out. Ben was walking away from the car. My hand had enough strength to reach d my hand down to reach my thigh. It had felt like there was six or seven layers of cloth
wrapped, around it. I didn't know who or what grabbed my ankles but they sure were small handed. Then someone stepped into the car it was luka.
"take it easy out there luke she's awake so lets not bump her into anything." luke's response was
"Fine but we're going to have to stand her up." I rolled my eyes and groaned a long and exasperated sigh. I closed my eyes when luke started pulling at my ankles. The light that was flowing endlessly into the car faded for a few mere seconds. I felt like a bat blinded by the strong sun that was setting on the horizon, painting the sky a golden orange with a highlight of purple. As the sunset started to fade away into the flowing river close to our house, I could hear the slam of the porch door and the locks clicking in the car. Luke and Luka were talking about something but I wasn't listening to the conversation. Knowing those two it would be about the latest fight between one of our group or a fight between the other groups. The ones who attacked me we're the Richey's and I didn't realize but I was in their territory that day and that's why they attacked me along and to send a message to my brothers "the war is starting.".
I could feel blood,it was coming from a cut or something above my eye. I knew that I got f***ed up by the other group, I knew that I was going to be in major trouble by the boy's, mostly Connor and Gally. I hated letting any of the boys down, but the rule made the house feel like a cage. When we stepped in I was rushed by Surrender and Abbadon. The one thing I can discern from the two is the voice. Abaddon's is in all ways gravely and dark, Surrender is high pitched the only way I can explain it is like someone ate a whole tank of helium.
"Put her on the couch you two." There was minor shuffling presumably by Luke and Luka. I felt the couch it was broken down and one side always sank in. Luke and Luka must've put me on the edge between the sank in side and the good side; since I fell over. Luke and Luka along with Me and Surrender all started laughing. When we all stopped laughing they helped me up back to one side. Surrender had took one look at me and just stared. I knew why, I most likely had a bunch of bruises and scrapes, A huge indent too. Luke and Luka vanished upstairs. But in a few minutes they were both replaced by Connor and Jeff. When Luke and Luka came back down they had thing for sutures and more bandages plus peroxide.
