Dreaming is a strange thing, especially the dream I had last night,
When everyone was gone, Rachel went to the bathroom, but as I stood. Hands covered my eyes and I struggled to get free as another pair of hands grabbed my arms. Struggling, I was being dragged towards somewhere, my heart pounding and my forehead covering in sweat.
Slowly opening my eyes, I realise it wasn't just a dream, it was a memory. Smacking my head with my palm, I tell myself, "Think, think, think... THINK!" What happened before that?!
We sit at the table, Caydence rushes over and slaps my shoulder, handing me a gift. I unwrap it and I realise she gave me a book called 'Daughter of The Burning City' by Amanda Foody. A smile crosses my face. A new author that I might finally be able to keep up with as this is her first book ever. I then pull the card from the wrapper I forgot to read. 'Happy birthday, Ian! Best wishes for turning 18!' I see the smile on her face and it brings me to happy tears as everyone else hands me my gifts.
Stifling a cry, I try to hold it in, gripping my shirt and bending over while I burst into tears. I want to see them again. I don't want to die. My throat feels tight like someone's hand clutching my windpipe, air unable to reach my brain, I cry a flood in silence.
