❝ The grandchildren are very special to us. I remember how happy Ronnie was the day he found out he was going to be a grandfather. Although I was a bit nervous for myself. I didn't know if Micheals children would accept me as a Grandma or not. Well clearly, I had worried for nothing. We don't really get to see them as much as we would like, but that makes the times that we do see them even more special. Cameron writes letters to Ronnie frequently. He's a very smart young boy. Little Ashley draws pictures for me and sends them in the mail. When we do get together at The Ranch for family events and all, Ronnie and I take them both horseback riding. He has Cameron while I hold onto Ashley. Hiking along the trails are a frequent activity so the children get their energy out, but sometimes Ronnie and I have to race to catch up to them! For the times they do spend at the White House, we make sure to have some time spent with them. Friday is when we usually take a day off if they're here with us depending on the agenda. We do a lot. Swimming depending on the weather. Ending with a movie night and all the goodies you can imagine from the White House kitchen staff. Cameron sits with Ronnie and Ashley usually sits in my lap. Sometimes she even falls asleep before the end of the movie. They're both so precious and make me feel so lucky to be a Grandma.❞
