❝In December Of 1984, I was given Lucky as a present from the March Of Dimes Poster child. Little did I know that the adorable ball of fluff would grow to be the size of a pony. Ronnie and I were both always dog lovers, but we never had a dog in the White House until Lucky. She was named after my mother. She would always romp through the White House halls. She was a thunder of excitement whenever she saw Marine One because she knew it meant a trip to the Presidential Retreat. Quickly outgrowing the White House, we sent her to the Ranch around Thanksgiving in 1985. We did make trips as frequently as we could, but we knew we had made the best decision by sending Lucky to a place where she had plenty of room to run around and roam free.❞
