Chapter 2 : The Boy In The Ice Burg

Water, Earth, Fire, Air.

My grandmother use to tell me stories of the old days a time of peace. Where the Avatar kept balance between the water tribe earth kingdom, air nomads and fire nation.

But that all changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the Avatar master of all four elements could stop the ruthless fire benders but when the world needed him most he vanished.

A hundred years have past and the Fire nation is nearing victory in the war. Two years ago my father and the men of our tribe journeyed to the Earth kingdom to help fight aggenst the Fire nation. Leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air nomads that the cycle is broken but I haven't lost hope I still believe that somehow the Avatar will return to save the world.

We look over the ocean and ice to see a watertribe canoe with two children inside leaning over the top looking over int the water.

"Its not getting away from me this time. Watch and learn Katarra, this is how you catch a fish" Sokka said with a look of determination.

Sokka is holding a spear to the water to strike the fish swimming in it. Katarra looks over the boat to see a fish in the water close to her. She takes a deep breath and takes of her gloves. She begins to waterbend the fish out of the water and wants to show her brother.

"Sokka look!" Katarra said in excitement.

"Sshhh, Katarra your gonna scare it away. Mmmm I can already smell it cooking." Sokka said licking his lips. He is so concentrated on the fish and also his hunger that he can't see the fish his sister caught.

"But Sokka I cought one. Hey!" Katarra said making the fish go closer to him so he could see. Sokka pocked the bubble making it pop. The fish jumped away and the water fell on Sokka. Now he is soaking wet.

"Ahh. Why is it that everytime you play with magic water I get soaked?" Sokka said looking agitated and angry.

"Its not magic, its water bending and its--" Sokka interrupted before she could finish.

" Yeah, yeah its accient art to our culture, blablabla so yeah all I'm saying is that if I had weird powers, I would keep my weirdness to myself." He said as he was trying to get the water out of his hair.

"Your calling me weird, I'm not the one that makes mussels every time I see my reflection in the water." She said looking smug because he was doing exactly that.

"Everyone knows the calm before the storm, it's funny." Sokka said trying to contain his laughter while Katarra hits him on the head.

"Idiot...." mumbled Katarra.

Before they could say anything else the water becomes rapid and they crash against the ice trying to get out. "Watch out. Go left, go left!!"

Instead of going left Sokka ends up crashing the canoe and leaving them adrift.

"That's unfortunate." Said Irho looking sad.

Katarra scrambles up next to her brother so she doesn't fall int the freezing water. "You call that left?"

"Oh, you don't like my steering well maybe you should have water bended us out of the ice"
