"Bro, you wildin" Rod said to me. "You know Case aint that type of girl. You went in sis house like a damn animal. And you know she crazy. She should've capped yo ass."

"She knew not to have that nigga there."

"You cant tell her who she can have in her crib nigga. And you cant put this all on her either. You had plenty of opportunities to buss up on her. Just like you did when you initially tried to get her. Whatever you did to get her, you gotta do that same shit to keep her cuhz. You know she's unphased by the flowers and shit. Case just wants a nigga to show up."

"She kept my child away from me bro."

"Yo child aint even here yet. What could you have done in these past two months? You in a new city every other night fool. What was you gone do? FaceTime her? I know you mad, it's the principle. I get that. But you need to chill on her fool before you push her further away and right into that nigga arms."

I continued to smoke my blunt as we pulled up to the spot where Case's seminar was. I called Tabitha and asked for the info and she sent it immediately. Rod was right but I wasn't trying to hear that shit. I knew I needed to get Case back. That's why I'm here. She gone hear me out before my flight later on tonight and that nigga aint allowed back around her crib.

I walked in a little late with Rod and Key right behind me. We sat down in the front row next to Kev who sat on the end. The bitch ass nigga that was with Case last night was on the other end eyeing me. Ima have to knock this nigga out before we leave.

"Okay. Well, let's get started. What does Diversity mean to you in 2018?" They asked starting the discussion off. It was a white dude with Case again. She loved this shit.

Case looked at him, smiled and sat up in her seat. I knew she was about go off without hesitation.

"Ahhhh. Jumped right on in didn't we?" She chuckled before continuing "well, I don't think that matters. It never did... Let me explain.

Diversity in 2018 is simply checking a box. You hire a black, Asian, Hispanic, or another minority simply to say your company is diverse. And to me, that's bullshit. Excuse my language but ima call it how I see it. Hire me because I am over qualified or just as qualified as my white male counterparts, don't hire me simply because I'm black. I think that's where people get confused. We're not asking for a handout. We're asking for equal opportunities. I can be more than qualified compared to my white counterpart and won't get the job simply because I'm black but hiring me simply because I'm black doesn't solve the problem. It adds to the problem. So diversity, to me, in 2018 is straight up bullshit.

But hear me out, you're the director of diversity and inclusion here right?"

"Yes"

"And you're a white male. What in the whole hell do you know about diversity? No offense to you but that just baffles me. How can you fight for something, how can you implement something if you've never experienced the struggle? You expect me, as a black woman, to be confident that you will implement policies that will benefit me as both a woman and a minority when you're neither of those? Matter of fact, you're the oppressor. YOURE THE MAJORITY! So that right there, tells you what diversity is in 2018. I don't want to hear about your fake diversity initiatives, your fake diversity concerns, none of that. Diversity is just a topic people like to discuss. No one really wants to act on it.

In the beginning, I said my opinion, my thoughts on Diversity in 2018 doesn't matter because it doesn't. But let me ask you, what does Diversity mean to you?"

That right there was why I admire Case so much. I could tell she was sick and uncomfortable. She had on a simple Black Girl Magic T-shirt, jeans, and the SpaceJams. Her hair was in a ponytail and she wore no makeup. She would never sit on a panel that casual. I knew she wasn't feeling it but she was never afraid to hold back. No matter how bad she felt, she was going to speak her mind.
