"A snake man, I mean of all the possibilities why did it have to be a snake?" A say out frustration to no one in particular.
"He has a phobia of snakes." Explains my mother. I look up and see Riley with a puzzled look on her face. "Even as a little boy he wanted nothing to do with them." She continues.
I notice Alex coming this way, I don't want to look at him. I said I would leave to keep his packs out of trouble but it was too late, the fae was already here. When I broke through his glamour and saw he was a snake I lost it, now the fae have declared war on the wolves.
"I'm sorry Alex." I say.
"Don't apologize, I could never hand you directly over to them knowing their intensions." He says. "With all the commotion I missed what happened, can you tell me what you saw?"
"At first nothing. He was just a creepy old guy in a suite and top hat, but when you called me over and I noticed his demon eyes or at least that's what they reminded me of, that's when my vision triggered. I don't know how else to explain him other than a snake man. He had this enormous head like a cobra and his lower body was coiled up like a snake too but his torso and arms were human like. It was the most frightening thing I've ever seen, he looked so powerful! His lower body was thick and massive, I doubt any normal snake has that kind of girth, not even the largest of boa constrictors or pythons." I explain.
"His glamour was strong, I would have thought when you called him out it would have broken enabling us all to see him. Being it didn't, I can only assume he is an elder fae which makes him immensely powerful." Says Alex.
"But now we're all in danger!" Says a man from across the room, his tone is angry.
Alex turns to face the man. "Should I have just handed him over Evan? Is that who we are?" He asks.
Evan hangs his head low avoiding eye contact with his alpha not bothering to respond. Harper then takes a step forward and growls at Even.
Harper then turns back to Alex. "Let me take him to see Tapuro, maybe he can help."
"With the fae declaring war they will first have to contact the Dire before attacking us outright. When Abaeus discovers my disregard for his treaty he will come in full force and between the Dire and the fae I will need you here Harper. I'm sorry." Says Alex.
"It's ok." I say. "I will leave like I said I would, I just couldn't go with the snake. In a car I stand a good chance, I'm willing to risk it."
"Taven NOO!" Cries my mother.
"I'm not sending him out there alone and defenseless." Replies Alex. "But I need Harper and Luca here." He turns and walks to the middle of the room. "Is their anyone who will stand with Taven? Is anyone willing to protect and deliver him to De la Roche?"
His words are commanding. He must be tapping into his Alpha aura big time, but as I look around the room I see head after head drop and stare at the floor. No one is going to volunteer to ride with me, why would they? who am I to them? The fae want me dead, they have made that very clear so why would anyone with half a brain want to be anywhere near me?
